Stock FCX24 vs HEAVY FCX24! How weight can help your rig! Too much weight?

Just messing around adding some weight to one of my rigs and seeing how it runs with the added weight. Obviously there is a fine line between too much weight and a perfect setup. I’m just showing how weight does help the stock truck.

Great comparison vid and analysis. I just got the Treal brass outer portal covers for front & back, plus the brass inner covers for the front. Also have some weighted Treal wheels. Gonna have to do some testing to see if it’s too much weight. Thanks for all your work on the FCX24s 🤟🏼

Gotta comment again, thanks for making these elaborate comparisons. Cleared up the big question of the pro and contra of lot/less weight with stock and aftermarket tires. Where the low weight with better tires made the climb but not the full weight one. :) Especially the contrast when both trucks felt over and when not. Super interesting! Had the idea to put just as much weight as possible but that seems to be far from ideal :D. So from what I've seen here it looks like a low CG is beneficial for both front and back. Thanks :) EDIT: I wasn't concentrating on the video enough, you answered most questions :D

Thank you for your research. I kinda went overboard with treal upgrades. Got them all but the balance is great with the battery upfront. Enough of power to pull without a problem. Lots of times it surprises me with what it can do. I do want to get more power since all is metal. Did you have to pull gear out before removing motor for your $6 mod?

I like to start with free lowering center of gravity mods before adding weight. Reducing high weight by moving the heavier parts lower. This way you really optimize a little added weight.

Yeah the tripod shots get pretty boring though imo. Use it enough on the bench lol. High gear is needed for a lot of tough uphill lines. Definitely needed on a couple spots of the course with most trucks. Low don’t get it done so ya gotta go high gear!

Well there's the thing with the scale. It's like taking your Wrangler 4door with 40inch tires and every crawling gimmick to a rock bouncing park or Buggy Lane....it will look misplaced and end in carnage. Heavier wheels and good weight distribution with grippy tires and the FCX does great and still looks nice in scale. Looking for sheer performance, built a comp buggy, will also help with the driving aesthetics. Very nice comparison though!
@QuinnsRC

Nice rundown. Man, that's a lot of weight. It really showed with how much bounce was taken out of the truck, which I liked. Would putting oil in the shocks on the lighter one make a difference? I'm about to add some weight to mine to see how it goes. Let's see a drag race between these two, LOL, to see how weight changes speed! Looks like tires are the big winner here.

Good morning Matt, Hey I'm new into this and figured this little truck was a great beginner starting point. Been watching your vids for a couple of months now. I always hit the thumbs-up. 👍 Your content is always spot on. I have bought three of these little PWs and am having a blast modding them. My favorite truck so far is one I lightened up the cab and added weight to the front and rear with Treal parts. I also installed the Injora two stage 43mm shocks witch I like because they compress way down giving more articulation. I'm kind of having a hard time deciding on tire and wheel options. Could you give me your best two wheel and tire combinations for this truck with some weight added using Treal brass covers? Sincere thanks, Mike from Idaho.
@2fmrc
@2fmrc Жыл бұрын
Hey! Really appreciate you watching and the thumbs up. More than you know! 🙏 I really like most of the Treal wheels on these rigs. Or the Hardpark crawlers wheels with the hex flipped. They have tons of wheel options and are a really good wheel that you can customize quite a bit. As far as tires the pin tires are great but some don’t like their looks. The little guy racing swamp kings are another big time performer. Both of those are larger tires but fit these trucks well. If I’m trying to go smaller than those tires I’d probably choose the powerhobby trail warriors. The treal brass portal covers are a great way to get a little extra weight and then I usually just try to lower the body etc to help bring the weight that’s up highest down as low as possible. Hope this helps! amzn.to/3Sdv4eD

Pendiente sube 62 grados bajada 54 grados laterales 47 grados. Mi coche pesa ahora mismo 727 gramos y va muy bien,suelo utilizarlo en marcha corta no larga....la marcha larga para ir de una puerta del circuito a otra. @2fmrc
@2fmrc Жыл бұрын
You can definitely dial it in by driving it and testing out how it reacts with each mod. The body is the biggest issue with the weight on the fcx. The hard body causes it to nose a lot going downhill. Stretching it with some longer rear links can help a ton. Lowering the body a bit or losing the fenders etc can help shave weight. You can also get these scales that can give you a good idea where you sit and where you need weight. So you don’t have to add a ton. Just a little where needed. amzn.to/42Y9tfv

@2fmrc
@2fmrc Жыл бұрын
I’ve successfully stretched the scrambler style Tires over the stock wheels. Most of the larger tires should work. The main issue is the foam. You may wanna trim the inner ring because stretching them sometimes causes them to break. amzn.to/3T96vAL

The higher your weight is positioned, the more it will take to keep it planted but it will never handle like a light weight lcg build. Basically, weight depends on your body. Low 400’s for a shorty and mid 400’s for a g’iator is gonna be “the best” for what we run, mostly likely, once you get a big motor and servo. Small motor and an emax might keep you below 400, which has benefits but… TEXOMA STYLE BEHBEEEEE!!! Much love, brother!
@2fmrc
@2fmrc Жыл бұрын
Yeah the main reason these things need weight low is the body up high for sure! That’s why I usually chop them and lower or swap to lexan because I’d prefer less weight overall but gotta offset what weight you do have up high for sure! I kinda like a good hard body 😆 but it comes with some disadvantages also.
