Stock Investing Lessons: The MOST IMPORTANT Business Trait. Lessons on investing in the stock market. If you want to learn how to invest in stocks, you must study business moats. It's one of the top investing lessons for beginners to learn. Without a moat, a businesses' profits will eventually come under attack. A key investing lesson that we learned the hard way is how to judge a company's competitive advantage. In this investing lecture, Brian Feroldi and Brian Stoffel discuss what is a moat, what is a fake moat, how to spot a real moat and provide examples of companies that have moats.

Excellent breakdown of MOAT. I like the fact you covered what is not a MOAT first and then dwelved into what is a MOAT. The content of this video will still be relevant a decade from now and I can show this to my kids. Really liking the investing lessons videos paired with regular stock analysis. I wish this channel continued success for the tremendous work it is doing.

The timing of this video couldn't have been better. I just finished listening to "little book that builds wealth" by Pat Dorsey and he talks about all these moats. However, due to its vintage many of the examples are of companies that I have barely heard off and I couldn't relate entirely. So this was great video with current companies examples to put into perspective. Great video guys!!Thanks for sharing Brian(s)

I'll have to check that book out. Wiley's "Little Book" series is pretty phenomenal. The Little Book that Beats the Market by Joel Greenblatt was the first book on investing I gave to my kids. Anything by Greenblatt is a great read, of course.

Completely agree. Or even earlier. More personal finance taught in high school would help solve a lot of the country's problems, IMO. Would be nice if parents would teach their kids, but a lot of the parents might have the worst financial behavior.

I think this is the Brians' most powerful video yet. So much investing wisdom packed into 22 minutes! Identifying moat and its durability is job #1 for an investor. Love that they give different types of moat that occur and then provide easy-to-understand examples. Going to send this link to my kid who's starting out in investing.

Amazing content, love the examples. Endless videos you could do on this topic, with your unique takes. In this step of Stoffels' experimentation with camera setups, I kinda like the dramatic angle, brings in more body (language), but probably needs some more balance/less floor in the frame. Keep it up guys! 👍

Uber is not competitive any more, I used to love Uber, but recently, my son used Uber for a 8 miles ride, when he ordered it, it said 16 dollars, when he arrived, he had to pay $42 for 8 miles ride. I have never used Uber since then.
