Also if you are getting smacked by missiles within the 8.7 br bracket it is pretty much a maasive skill issue, the only exception to this is the Yak with R60s at 9.3.

Pretty sure it has to do with the fuel pods. Even when you detach them the fuel count remains maxed even if you took the lowest amount of fuel. I had problems too but I just went with a custom loadout and only equipped the gun pod.
