Yes, as a very young child remember going into one of these. So lucky as my parents had a 1937 house on Lloyd Street.

The cellars did not have fireplaces. What you can see is the foundation pillars for the first floor fireplaces.

My parents rented a back to back on Port Street near there, we were moved onto the new estate -Brinnington in the early fifties. I remember going back there when i was very young, it had a Dickensian feel & appearance. The scullery windows which were tiny looked out onto a dull dismal courtyard.

The quote: badly built houses, don’t make me laugh , ! eyesore called red rock now thrown up courtesy of Stockport councils masterplan which will be another flop just like grand central! Backhanders and the word dummies comes to mind!

So for any viewer that wants to know better lookup the Subterrainea Britannica channel to see an in-depth video on the structures in this area that are buried up to 80ft underground. These are not basements.
