I lived in Stockport for most of my life - I moved to Blackburn 4 years ago, and it's like living in another country compared to SK1

Can tell it was 8 years ago there was " people" and " shops" and things .now you expect Clint Eastwood to ride in on his mule lookin for some sign of " life".

Well it sure isn't as busy now with not one decent store, hardly any market stalls and the frontages of Woolworths and BHS boarded up, plus all of Princes Street covered with barriers for the work going on at Red Rock where the planners think people are going to flock to!! In your dreams! High car park charges, reduced parking areas, proliferation of charity and loan shops and even one large pound store closed, nothing left these days.

I've just booked my holidays now to go there next summer. Can't wait !

Thank you, I was in Stockport for 6 months between 2009-2010 it is a beautiful city with great people I miss it.

Well it's shot at 720p 60fps. The camera won't do any faster than that (it's a Kodak Zi8 - it will do 1080p but only at 30fps so I've stuck to the faster rate and lower definition). Further suggestions welcome. It's handheld camera (no tripod) (most of the places I film are unsuitable for tripods).

Once a great industrial centre with many cotton mills and engineering companies. unfortunately the industrial heart has disappeared and it is now becoming a place that appears to specialise in nail art, cheap clothes, charity shops and pound shops. the council allowed and encouraged the building of the "Red Rock" complex which looks like astorage unit or car park facade. the design is dated and of budget standard. (note to councillors) take a look at the new shopping/entertainment centre at Bolton and see what you should have helped bring to Stockport. the mini fairground that takes pride of place outside the argos store in Mersey Square says it all. Stockport is slowly turning into a sink town and the majority of people just don`t seem bothered. it is becoming downtrodden and dismal.

I live in Stockport for nearly 10 years now and nothing much has changed but unfortunately I'm moving to a caravan in whales next year and I'm going to Majorca for Christmas this is the last year im going to be seeing my hometown thanks for all the memories and wish me luck on my new beginning to my new end. Happy new year

Last time i was in the town centre must have been close to when you filmed this-Stockport's commerce centre is distinctive and old fashioned albeit weirdly off centre-which i felt every time i meant to get going on a bus....x

Most people seemed oblivious to your filming. It would be my luck, if I fine r everyday life in Stockport, somebody would me off for filming them, and have a go, and remove the fun out of it. This could well document how things used to be (in the future when certain things might have changed by then).

G4shf, 24 fps is the standard unless you're shooting a Hollywood movie. Even The Hobbit shot at 48 fps is 'new' and 'revolutionary' in the film business. 60fps is far far too fast - unless you're filming balistic missiles - let's hope we don't see any of them in Stockport.

Nearly 40 years since I left, can't really see any improvement.

Like most town centres stockport is dying, out of town shopping is on the increase, online shopping is here to stay and our shopping habits are changing, hence the Increase in supermarket home deliveries. It cannot be changed because we are all getting lazier and someday shops and high street shopping will cease to exist.
