Glad you posted this, especially to see someone else’s process. When I decided to try out a stick stove, I bought one I found at the intersection of Cheap & Decent on Amazon. I tried it a few times on ramen noodle hikes with my kids, and pretty much decided to shelf it. You had some tips in here that made me want to give it another try, because I really want one in my kit for the exact reasons you pointed out. If it goes well, I’ll consider the Uberleben as my eventual upgrade.

Appetizing vid. Thx 👍 Used a wood stove up in northern Scandinavia on one of my +2week trips. Worked - unless I were on "Vidda": no trees. And dry birch was often difficult to get going. Btw, one can be made out of two cans of diffrent size - one into the other - cheap, cheap, cheap. Vids here on yt

Nice!!! I've been looking for a light weight cooking option that isn't a jet boil necessarily, for keeping a tent warm I'd still go with a pomoly but but for taking a break and cooking a meal I like this.

I love woods stoves and alcohol stoves. What kind of forest are you in? Theres mountains i go into with forests similar.

Weird. Uberleben says this new stove burns slower because they restricted the air flow in the new one- did it to make it better for grilling but at the expense of boiling water
