Joe Oldham had the best gig ever, hammering the piss out of factory stock muscle cars. Of all the cars he tested, nothing compared to the Baldwin-Motion Camaro. He loved them so much he bought one for his personal vehicle. Though just half-a-year later it was stolen from his garage. Have you seen Joe's 427 Camaro!?!?!?

What made the paint special? Black 10 was available for 69.

So has anyone in recent times ever had the vin run through to see if it was ever registered again? My guess is it was stripped and dumped in the woods of NY or NJ. Or stripped and left and soon enough dumped for scrap. But if the vin was run nation wide might be a good place to see if it survived..

You can't register a stolen VIN.

I can't even imagine my car (70 GTX) getting stolen. Death would be too easy for the culprit.

Anybody that steals someone else's cherished ride whether it be two wheels or four wheels needs to be taped to a chair. Leave the rest to your imagination.

That happened so long ago, at a time when 1st gen Camaros were actually new cars. I read that story in his book, Muscle car Confidential and was taken by the fact he owned the "wanted" poster Camaro. A street machine built to order! Hate to say it but if they couldn't find it back then it was probably stripped of all the parts, and the car itself was scrapped. Oh how I hate to think that. I like the way it looked with the Torque Thrust wheels, and hockey stripe decals in the ads. Hope I'm wrong about its demise.

Guarantee you they swapped the entire drivetrain into another car. It may have not even been a Camaro. Maybe another GM vehicle. But I bet the car was scrapped immediately.

Well, that's not much to go by. Did this car start out as a COPO 427 Camaro, or was it a 396 with a transplant? We need a VIN and some data plate info to proceed here.

This is weird. I just came across this video. Then I had to come back to comment because the next video I watched was a story about the restoration of "the only 1969 Baldwin Motion Camaro" by KZfaq channel Legendary Motorcar. That was an older KZfaq video as well. That was a yellow car, though, but if it was stolen, it would make sense to change the color.

Being I was one of a few guys that worked for Joel Rosen building these things, I can tell you Joel NEVER GOT a COPO 427 Camaro to do up...The cars were all 396 Camaro that he got from Baldwin Chevrolet and the shop guys transformed them....many of the 427 and 454 motors got Holley 3 barrel carbs at the time, so if one is offered without this carb, it probably isn't a parts original legit Motion car, at least 68-70 cars were mostly done that way!

Curiouse what years did you work for Motion I grew up in Baldwin my Father also He street raced all over with his 1955 Nomad was silver and white with a 327 dual guard tunnel ram then 396 425 he. Then lime Green and pop in orange roof with A L88 Chrysler 4spd olds rear lived in Baldwin also had the 1968 Elcamino with 396 360 hp black with orange bed won 2 nd place at ny collisium in 1970 later that had 427 L88 in it also bought from Baldwin Chevrolet John Marlowe

Correct. I believe only the Phase III received 2 Holley 4bbl carbs (and the special ZLX cylinder heads).

My sisters 68 Roadrunner was stolen from her driveway back in the 80s. Found it a month later at a house about 10 miles away. Called the cops and they said the vin didn’t match!! It was made 3 cars after hers supposedly!!! I had made specific changes to the car but I wasn’t believed!, later I found out the current owner works at a Chrysler dealership!, BASTARD got away with it!!!
