Hey, congratulations on raising such a fine young man. You must be very, very proud. I was active duty US Army for nearly 15 years, from 2004-2019. We occasionally worked alongside some NSW guys (mostly in Afghanistan). They always had their sh*t 110% together and were among some of the funniest and most awesome ppl I ever met over there! We would always make the joke when ppl asked what "we did over there" and we'd sometimes answer "well, besides rescuing Navy SEALs?" 😂 (that joke comes from Army Rangers often being on the QRF element when the NSW fellas would be out doing their thing. But really it was always just meant as a friendly joke amongst professionals; those SEALs are absolute top tier ass-kickers! I was always very happy they're on our side!

Love your channel. In either late 1961 or early 1962, I was a young Marine I was stationed at Camp San Mateo, at the north end of Pendleton. I was working at head quarters for the Infantry Training Regiment, that trained new graduates of Marine Boot Camp. Our Quonset huts were located just above some huts occupied by a group of UDT guys there doing some kind of training. One evening I went to the NCO club and met one of the guys training there. Over the week we became pretty good friends. The only thing I knew about UDT was from the movie Frog Men. We talked a little bit about the training they were doing there, but nothing about the training to become UDT. About halfway through the week, while returning to my hut I saw my new buddy, with a cast on his arm doing one arm pushups. That night I saw him at the club and ask why. He just looked at me and said that's what we do. That was when I realized how special you guys are.

For the snipers, a lot of snipers today have shifted from MOA measurements to the "Mils" system. Another term is "hold off" or "Holds"...based on distance and wind, it's the amount of Mils held to compensate, rather than dialing values into a scope, e.g. "Hold 4 mils up for elevation, and hold 2 mils right for wind value." Great vid Senior Chief, buy those fake seals a Bud Light! LOL
@Doug_M

Yeah, that's what the rest of the military was using, well in tank gunnery that's what we used...mils. I knew that snipers were using the English measurement while the rest of the military was using metric.
@ArmaGuyz
@ArmaGuyz Жыл бұрын
No let them go on about how much they know about MOA. LOL if they were actually a Sniper they would be speaking in Modern terms because they would still be involved in shooting. Simply go to the range with them. If they were a sniper you can tell very quickly. Snipers don't shoot like normal people do because its literally ingrained into them how to shoot. If the guy has poor posture doesn't know his way around the scope doesn't seem to any idea how to shoot your rifle he wasn't a sniper. Snipers know well how to dial in very quickly even if they dont dial in they can use kentucky windage to get on point very quickly If your Sniper cant shoot a 100 yard range target within 3 shots he wasn't a damn sniper much less a SEAL. A sniper would be able to have a shot on targer within 3 shots very quickly. Just my own opinion but when you literally live Marksmenship even after leaving the service YOU STAY in the know and YOU STAY PRACTICED. An old man who was a Sniper in WWII was able to join an elite club of snipers and make very long ranged shots EVEN AFTER ALL THOSE YEARS. So there is no excuse not to be able to hit your target if you were in fact a sniper within just a matter of a couple rounds. Im not a Sniper and never was and I know a considerable amount of what they train to learn and even with me not being well practiced I know the postures and positions. One Point I want to be sure to make here though is MILSIMS are a thing anyone who has played Military Video games likely knows about MIL Dots on the scope because every kid with a controller tries to be a Sniper. In games like Arma you can learn some of what Snipers know simply by having to watch videos on how to snipe in the game. The guys in the videos reference real Materials. So dont be so quick to believe a guy cause he knows about Mils.

I have found those that know MOA and then you ask them what it means they will say minute of angle which is true then ask them what it really means when shooting out 50, 100 and 200 yards. You tend to get the blank stare. They just know what MOA say yet not really what it means. I never served yet I know what is actually means.

If they were legit they would be all about the milradian method. I wasn't a sniper, but we always used metric in the military, especially in the context of shooting distances. 1/10th of a mil=1cm per 100 meters just takes so much work out of long distance shooting.

@@sithyarael6807 for an AR I prefer 50 meters as with most loads you'll impact a few centimeters high at 100m, be back on at 200m, then a few centimeters low at 300m. For practical shooting it makes for a pretty much point and click interface.

Spot on Sir about, I'm from Eastern Europe and noticed that "everyone today is a sniper" that has served or came close to serving, especially after 9/11..Americans are very romantic. Snipers shoot in MILS, mush easier determining DISTANCE, target size, NOT AS MUCH TURRET DIAL UP, etc. MOA is a western thing kind of like the mile vs kilometer...Here at my gym recently someone was gloating and bloating about being a Army Ranger sniper.. I was introduced by someone that has called your show on exposing a wanna be SEAL..and immediately he started after I commented "WOW, must of been a hell of a thing to snipe", the more he talked the thicker and deeper in crap he got..I was like WTF!..I stopped and asked him how may MOA's in 1 MIL and how many inches in 1 MIL...he's been avoiding me since. Thank you for your service.

Raised in London in 1859 in the bohemian area, as a volunteer light infantry unit, the regiment saw active service. In 1947, some joker decided to reorganize it as a Reserve SAS regiment. As a Marine who payed very close attention to marksmanship and how to zero, and manipulated any rifle, I know marksmanship. As for water training, I was familiar with everything you talked about for exception of the diving device that the seals used and it's terminology. I watched RECON tryouts from my office in Okinawa, JA and immediately knew that I could never make it, because as good of a swimmer as I became in Marine training, I had zero buoyancy, so it was all about my cardiovascular conditioning and physical conditioning. That only lasts for so long and my zero buoyancy made me rely solely on that, but after 3 to 5 hours in the water, I was spent and had nothing left in the tank to continue. I'm cool with that and never thought to make up lies to say I did when I didn't. My military service was both amazing and something to brag about (although I don't). I'm good and so are my friends and family.

Why can’t these clowns be prosecuted, this would serve as a deterrent. .?
@liquidbraino
@liquidbraino Жыл бұрын
They *can* be prosecuted if they're doing it in order to steal money or benefits from veterans. Read the Stolen Valor Act. A bunch of them have been prosecuted and sent to jail. It used to be illegal just to claim you're a veteran if you never served but now it's only illegal if you're stealing from veterans. I'm an actor and have played a cop, detective, special forces, ATF, FBI, Secret Service (etc) on movies, TV shows and short films. If it was still illegal just to put on the uniform without having served tons of actors would be getting arrested.

Don , these fake SEAL impersonator / lyers have been around for a long time. I was in high school in 1982 before i crapped up with the Army and there was some twenty year old guy in maybe 12th grade that said he was a Navy SEAL and came back ti get his diploma. He talked a bunch of shit and was a bully. He pulled a knife on me and sliced me abive my eye before I stood him down ( after a barfight ...of course). Long story short , he became a bouncer at the same bar he pulled the knife out on me and one of my buddies kicked his ass. When i got out of the service i heard about that and laughed my ass off. The guy was a dope. I never believed his bullshit. But he did scare most of us dumb kids. And we didn't even know what the fuck a SEAL was back then. Fakers are always preying on the weak and intimidated. Glad you di what you do. It's a shame that there are people that are so messed uo they have to lie to get some respect. I was a nothing nobody in the military, did my time and got my Honorable then went to comunity college with all the rest if us idiots. Never , never would I lie about my service ( I embellished some off duty crap - barfights and women ) but was goid enough with just service honorably. Whats wring with these people? Mental midgets and straight psychos man. Thanks for your outstanding service and keep doing what you do. Nobody is bad ass like a badass that doesn't have to brag about being a badass.

Love that you do this, Don. I was a paramedic for almost 20 years and would often help out at car crashes that I came upon. Inevidably, some knucklehead would stop and say he was a paramedic, but didn't know anything, and couldn't say where they were trained, or what agency they worked for. When they tried to say they worked at X, I'd ask them how someone I knew there was doing. It was kind of fun watching their faces. Thank you for your service!
