Yesterday I jammed for the first time with two stoners. Usually I'm more into punkrock and I don't really know much about the "groove". Now I gotta prepare myself for our next session. Your content is very helpful. To me it's pretty hard to slow myself down.

As a drummer, the problem gets worse. However, you'll learn quickly a better internal feel for rhythm/groove. Taking that forwards into punk rock, there's some nifty things you can do. Sum 41 is the first band to come to mind. (Speeding back up after doing these tempos for a few years is proving difficult.)

+Jeroen Verbeeck Actually the original creator of Shaggy and the voice actor both never thought of him as a stoner. They hated that people acknowledged him as one. Then in the 2000's we have a movie where he meets a chick on a plane and her name is Mary Jane, and he's like "Man I love that name".

Do you think you could make more songwriting material, maybe for other genres? I find your content the most useful of all the riff lessons on YT. I'd love to see heavy/thrash metal, something that goes hard but that still sounds musical. Maybe some Metallica or Dio sounding stuff. Much love brother.

@devilbeastie

start off with a regular 4/4 (or 6/8 - depending on your track) rhythm and develop from that...it's just trial and error. try to fill in the patterns at different positions and try combining them. after some time you will discover which pattern works with which lick/riff. creating a good drumbeat is as hard as creating a good guitar riff...and it's a matter of taste as well. so there's no explicit formula. just: if you like it, it's allowed to do. ;-)

Well that's kind of my point. And actually I take back what I said about your point being null and void, you're right. Really the same reason you use a Peavey Bandit is why I use a combo amp myself, larger amps sometimes don't make sense.

Great lesson it helped me alot, just few questions: what strings would you recommend for stoner? Also if i want to tune down my guitar to C i have to bring it to a luthier to set my guitar to avoid the neck to bend? Sorry for my english
@CoreyHunter
@CoreyHunter 7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's a good idea to get a qualified luthier to adjust the neck when changing gauge. I'd recommend .11-54s for lower tunings. They come in a variety of custom gauges.
