I have an RK96 and absolutely love this keyboard. Although the exterior frame may be plastic, the internal frame is metal and solid. I got the RK96 on sale for about 75 dollars iirc. It was a great upgrade from an LG mechanical keyboard, it was gifted and not my choice, but at an higher cost, less features, no hot swap-ability or RGB. Appreciated the gift, but would have chose differently.

OK, to add on what they missed about the AULA F75, I would recommend going with reaper linear switches because they sound and feel better for gaming. The keyboard cable is kinda eh, but what matters more is the insane battery life it offers with or without RGB. Personally, I can use it wireless 1000hz for literally a whole month without charging. (without rgb a few hours each day) The best price for this keyboard is $64 on sale whch is insane. Definetly the best keyboard on this list thatI am literally using rn to type this up and I would recommend buying it!

I got a $35 keyboard with red cherry switches from some weird named Chinese company on Amazon, and I swear, its the best keyboard Ive ever used lol. Its really heavy, the typing sound is great, is backlit and has a volume knob!

I never really realize how terrible my 100 dollar RAZR keyboard really was until I was playing an only up fortnite server and my space bar is so bad at handling hard repetition it actually makes me rather upset.. now I need to find something can handle 3 quick space bar hits without completely locking up...

I highly recommend the VGN S99. It is a prebuilt on par with enthusiast level builds. Switches are silky smooth, and the sound is AMAZINGLY thoccy, all at $90.

As a Aula F75 owner, I would recommend going with the Ice Vein switches! They have a even better sound. You can actually get that keyboar in MANY other color themes!! Probably the best pre-built keyboar you can buy on a budget

I've been using the Redragon K632 Pro (60%) for around a year now. Wireless, Low Profile, Media Controls w/volume wheel and programable Macros. Absolutely zero complaints and it sits around $45 with regular sale prices below $40.

Gamers generally don't want to tinker with building a keyboard. Depending on the switches and keycaps you want you may end up waiting quite a while before you actually get them. It isn't uncommon to have to wait a year or more for certain switches or keycaps. While I agree that you shouldn't just buy whatever prebuilt keyboard is out there, some like Wooting and Akko make good keyboards with great software. The only ones I'd avoid like the plague are the Glorious GMMKs. 56000¥ ($350USD) for a 75% KB is absurdly outrageous. I have an Akko MOD007 which I think is worth every penny of the 22000¥ ($140USD) I paid for it. EDIT: Optical switches aren't all that good. They weren't good when they came out. Hall effect switches are so much better.

Wooting smacked the market and the dudes behind it are so transparent and trustworthy 180€ for a brand new 60he and 210€ for a new 80he …hell yeah i pay that

I bought a Roccat Pyro from a local game store for $25, brought it home and cleaned it up. New caps and lube from AliExpress, grease and tape I already had from the hardware store. Replaced Swarm with OpenRGB and it's a $35 board with $120 feel and features. That Razer sounds like arse out of the box.

Am I the only person who still requires a numpad on my keyboard? It's becoming increasingly harder to find a good quality keyboard with a number pad. I use it for work just as much as I use the keyboard for gaming, so it's not negotiable for me.

RK R65 is a very good keyboard. Bought several of them in white/green. I did a tape mod on it and, swapped the switches out for Akko Creamy Purple Pro which are tactile feeling (better than Cherry Brown) and swapped the keys out for some Pudding Caps. Looks nice, sounds, nice, feels great.

my goto build ive made for my friends is with the AL65 for the smaller form and you can get it barebones for around 60 usd. if you want wireless go with the Weikav AL65 but base price for that is around 89 usd. I usually like using gateron inks or akko rose reds for a more enjoyable typing sound but if you prefer a fast switch i like the jwk splash brothers and gateron speed silvers. If you want a SUPER fast keyboard, invest in a rapid trigger magnetic switch keyboard

Would've been nice if you actually showed some full-size keyboards. Not a fan of using keyboards that lack particular keys (the Numpad being the biggest example).

My Glorious TKL is the first keyboard I've had with a full metal body, the weight is a surprise.

One thing that is very inaccurate in this video is the fact the the razor is 100% keyboard. Yet they didn't show even one 100%, which makes them cheaper... Other than that amazing suggestion...

I gotta say that I am a VERY happy owner of a €200 keyboard... I got the Wooting Two Lekker Edition when that was in its kickstarter. It was a limited edition. But your info on the Wooting is simply wrong (the ones you put on screen - Flaretech infrared. That was the info for the Wooting One which is simply no longer available. The current ones are using Lekker Hall Effect Switches which are produced by Gateron. And it's not just the speed that is a reason for getting a Wooting. It's the customisability. You can set manual actuation point. So your point about the typing experience when not gaming is not a thing. You can easily in their software set a profile for typing with something like a 1.8-2.5 mm actuation and one for gaming with 0.9-1.2 mm. And the fact that the software is run in the browser and saves to the keyboard so it doesn't need to run in the background also means it doesn't detract from the computer's performance like the software from Razer, Corsair, Steel Series and Logitech.

There's a lot of nuance to the keyboard hobby. I like everything from "customs", to gaming keyboards to ancient IBM Model F keyboards from the 1980s. I'm currently typing this on a Razer Huntsman Mini with the purple clicky switches. There are things I love about it and things that I hate. There are also things I love and hate about custom keyboards. The only way to know what you will like is to try it.

I own a RK ROYAL KLUDGE R75 Mechanical Keyboard with Volume Knob, 75% and I love it. I did use a Glorious for years. The R75 is like 60 on Amazon, control the RGB from the keyboard, media knob, and love the clicky sound. No RGB software needed! Much recommended.

Wooting 80he might just be your best bet of a fast gaming keyboard(actually the fastest) and which also sounds and feels a lot better than those other gaming keyboards

Expensive is always the best. Buy a wooting 60he with rapid trigger or an apex pro and your switches' response time will be insane

The nice things about keyboards is that they haven’t changed all that much in the last ~30 years. And holy… these old boards can sound and feel just amazing for dirt cheap. Bought a 1990 IBM Model M for ~20 Dollars at a yard sale, bolt modded it, gave it a new membrane and man, this thing is fire! Probably not the best example for the greatest gaming board, but typing-wise this 2+ kgs behemoth of a board is the king of them all. I also use it for gaming (not competitive tho) and find it very suitable for my gaming style but this is not where this thing fully shines. From my experience, old mechanical Cherry boards are amazing for gaming: switches were just different back then (much more of a type-writery feel) and man, as long as it’s ABS plastic and PBT keycaps (double-shot or dye-subbed) these boards won’t age beyond surface dirt and dust.

I don't for the life of me get the appeal of having a braided cable on anything. The instant ANYTHING gets snagged on that cable and you've got a fray in the side of it. And that's all I'm going to see. Also - who the hell cares if the cable is detachable? How often are you removing the cable from your keyboard? Hell how often are you taking your keyboard off of your desk? And yeah, if it ain't a 100% keyboard - I don't want it. Why the hell would I want to use the top row to put in numbers when I can have a numpad right there next to my dominant hand?

When i got my first gaming pc i bought a logitech mechanic keyboard and thought it was amazing. A few years later i got a $50 RK that blew that logitech out of the water

After dealing with coolmaster, razer etc. For many many years and dealing with failure after failure I switched to Logitech. Say what you want but my g305 has been going strong since its release with no issues and this Logitech low profile mech keyboard is leaps and bounds better than the cool master i had. So from a 70 to a 120 dollar keyboard was massive for me. Everything from rubber wearing off the keys to the point I could not read them anymore to multiple buttons registering more than once with one press. Don't even get me started on the razer keyboard I had.

at the end they do say the razer is built for gaming performance. while the others are for overall button pressing enjoyment. so no dont stop buying expensive gaming keyboards if you want performance.

Where’s huntsman v3 or wooting 60he

I definitely prefer the feel of typing with the stabilizers on the razer keyboards over the feel and sound of the typing on the other keyboards. The more constrained action while still being a light press just feels more premium to me. The other keyboards just feel mushy in comparison.

to be fair the red dragon vara is pretty good if you can still find it, it's loud and heavy but the faceplate is solid and doesn't flex. typing is pretty good as far as I can tell but I'm not a great judge of key press. also the red only backlight version was 45 USD when I bought it. also I do occasionally use the numpad and hardly move it so the size and weight and cord aren't a issue for me.

When it comes to gaming keyboards the real issue i have is to find a proper non clickedy click mechanical one. I find those extremely annoying. (My first keyboard back in the 90s was a legendary ibm mechanial keyboard... yes it was cool back than but nowadays it just annoys the crap out of me.) Ended up with a steelseries apex 3 tkl. Works fine for me. Just appears the market for non mechanical ones shrinks more and more.

Anyone looking for a keyboard, wooting is the best. Anything under just go for any main company Razer, stealseries, ect. Anything over you only want to do if you like esthetics as it will preform slower than a wooting

Tip: When you was talking about the switches and the stabilizer, I would have liked to have seen it then, and not some hands rotating the keyboard around. I lucked out and got a Corsair K68 for free, so I won't complain much.

The budget prebuilt space in mechanical keyboards is no joke, same can be said for entry-level custom boards. They constantly set the bar higher with each release and they put any store-bought board to shame😮‍💨

I don't get online sellers, for me in Israel the Shadow X on Amazon is not available to purchase and on Aliexpress it costs 70$+, on the other hand the wireless Aula F75 is selling on Aliexpress for 40-50$. I just got interested in mechanical keyboards recently so bought 6 different wireless mechanical keyboards from Aliexpress for the price of that Razer keyboard, I don't like Razer and will never buy any of their overpriced garbage. Got all 6 keyboards and used most of them for a few days each, interesting but I still don't get why people go nuts spending thousands of $$ on keyboards, yeah it sounds and feels nice but a good membrane keyboard does the same job, doesn't sound as nice but sometimes I prefer not hearing the switches and the feel of a membrane keyboard is fine IMO. For now I'm happy with the keyboards I have and will continue testing them further.

i solved it my self i bought full Razer setup and bought to my self a Akko Piano pro switches and GK68XS with thick keycaps. Razer Huntsman analog i have sounds better than yours guys, idk why maybe because i have black switches. For gaming i preffer Razer. Razer has better response time and i love the RGB. But when it comes to typing i preffer my custom keyboard, and im writing on it ring now. You would not believe how i have both keyboards on my table.

I think you meant dustproof stem switches. Box switches are Kailh made switches with an entirely different actuation mechanic. While most mechanical keyboards have leaf springs inside, box switches - well - have a box inside that houses their... patented? actuator. It's suppose to make the switches water resistant and dustproof, though tbh it at least makes their switches feel different.

I'm so confused as to what is good anymore... It used to be that a keyboard should have good specific features, macro buttons, multimedia keys, number of keys that can be held down at a time and long lasting switches. Now it's all about color and the keypress sound...? Like gong to carshows to brag about exhaust sounds.. The Huntsman's linear switches let's you use the wasd as a joystick. This is great for games that are mainly fps but features car driving like cyberpunk. Letting you drive without the taptaptap to turn is a blessing. No other keyboard on this list compares. +1 Huntsman. You can custom the actuation switch 100% from bottoming out to grazing the switch, and you can change so much about what all buttons do on the keyboard in the software. +1. Price is ofc a -1 for Huntsman. Royal Kludge looks like a IBM computers keyboard. Can't say I like that style of key, but maybe they are in fact easier to hit the right key with, I don't know and I have never seen anyone mention it so I guess that's not important. -1 for me. No RGB through the switches so you can't see what the keys are in the dark wtf???... -2. Bluetooth, which no gamer would ever use cus of the latency. A minor plus for the Royal. +0.5. All plastic compared to Huntsman's aluminum top plate +1 Huntsman, -1 to Royal. Total: -2.5 Epomaker got wireless +0.5 Has a gimmick screen that no one ever uses. -1 Switches with no see through again!? Wtf is the point? -1 Full plastic with a lot of flex. -1 Total: -3 Aula got non braided cable cus of looks. We want braided cables for a reason, cus we sloppy and tend to break shit. -1. Wireless +0.5 Very flexy looked easily breakable and not LoL friendly... -1 No see through keycaps... worthless junk. -1 Ttotal -2.5 ..Wonder why you guys didn't pick the 60% huntsman version. Overall if you are a gamer, get an expensive gaming keyboard that has what you need rather then sound and look good. This is not a girlfriend that's chosen for her voice and good looks.. We all wearing headphones anyway. This is a tool to help us preform. If you don't need optical switches go linear, it's fine. But you need clearly visible keys in the dark. You might need macrobuttons. You might need media keys. You might need function keys, hell you probably will unless you are playing very specific games. Or you might priorities mouse mat space for FPS games, smaller 60% keyboards are your friend. You might need the numpad for extra keys, Starcitizen does make good use out of it for example. Look at your overall needs and pick from there. For me it was a Blackwidow V2 fullsize for years but now the keys stop functioning randomly so I'm looking at the optical switches as a possibility for longer lasting keys but I might be wrong. I'm also looking at getting rid of the numpad as I have a mmo mouse and don't need it, and I find the mouse space lacking. If your budget is small just get something with see through keycaps, minor rgb and linear switches. anything. preferably full-size since budget people can't always play what they really want and many indie games have odd key binds so might as well go for full versatility.

RK R65 build quality is.....ok for the price but its keycaps are just so good its perfectly horizontal without a slight bent ngl I'd buy a R65 only for the keycaps

I would still pick razer over all of the alternatives simply because none of them are full sized. For someone who does work on his PC and does a lot of stuff with 3D graphic and even 2D graphics numpad is a must. I ain't running up and down whole width of keyboard to enter precise coordinates or values. Buying separate numpad is stupid as well because then there is one more cable or device I need to keep charged, not to mention nice quality numpads cost almost as whole keyboard so it gets expensive real fast.

I have been using Royal Kludge R61 now for 3 years and it still rocks. It's way cheaper than the known brands.

Steel series you can have multiple profiles with different actuation speeds. So you can setup a gaming profile and a typing profile.

7:47 I have an RK 60% keyboard with red switches, which serves as a backup in case my main keyboard goes down. It's super nice for games, but I actually did try the software and I don't like it. Their software needs a lot of polish.

The Epomaker Shadow-X has shot up to 80 plus now so that sucks they have others but I am unsure the switches used hahaha

My first view into the "gaming keyboards" was a tkl logitech with the blue clicky switches. At the time new they usually were 139 and I had got it somehow new with the plastics still on the box at a pawnshop for 80. 2nd keyboard I had gotten and the one I'm still currently using is a 60% keychron k12(119 at the time) that originally came with gateron g pro browns in which i had quickly swapped out for kailh speed silvers(110sw for 22 on sale with an additional discount at that time). I do love it however am getting tired of not having dedicated function keys. I forget the exact brand of key caps my friend gifted me but do know they're double shot pbt cherry profile. The keyboard I have currently opted into building has yet to have everything arrive yet. Bought the horizon blue monsgeek m1v3(74.99 but 15-25 for shipping sadly) and sticking with kailh linears however they'll be the super speed reds(127sw for 31) factory pre-lubed. Went with womier moa profile key-caps(26) which arrived today. Stoked to actually build my first custom keyboard instead of just customizing an already built keyboard. Prices said are all usd. This is definitely a hobby that can dent the pocket if you don't limit and watch yourself. One per year for me so far which for me feels fairly controlled. Apologies for laying out my whole keyboard purchasing experience. I like to ramble a bit sometimes.

Maybe better build quality, but a lot slower. I've had my aircraft grade aluminum Apex Pro for years now and have no issues.

I bought the RK H81 Royal Kludge yesterday. It's wireless bluetooth and wired nice and quiet. Great sounding keyboard, great feel. Hot swappable etc. I hate repetitive noises in general. Better than the HyperX I bought. Was $95 AUD on Amazon. I'm impressed. 😁🤘🏻

Razor doesn't really offer anything for their keyboards. I built an inland gaming mk pro 75% for a little more than the Razor. I got the barebones kit at 89.. but full aluminum, south facing, removeable usb c (no wireless options), heavy AF, sidelights... It was the fancy front legend keycaps and the WS silent linears I filled it with that took me over the razors price. I could have put just about any decent budget linear in it and some generic caps in there and came in less. The prebuilt version is same price as the razor..

Your comparing a full size keyboard to non full size ones.. not comparable. I built my own tenkeyless keyboard recently and love it but I really wish I had those keys that are missing
