There are several possible reasons for collapsing when receiving cleans-far more than simply not having a strong enough trunk.
If you’re able to properly front squat with a quick descent and a bounce a weight that causes you to collapse in a clean, the issue is not one of strength or mobility primarily.
Anything that negatively affects balance, achieving an ideal front squat position, or staying connected to the bar is likely to cause collapsing.
The simplest way to look at correction is to put your body in the perfect front squat position and make the bar meet you there.
1. Brace forcefully, and brace harder as you receive the bar
2. Meet the bar in the turnover
3. Maintain balance in the pull
4. Bring the bar back to you in the turnover
5. Establish a secure, active rack position

Correct me if I'm wrong, but another way to think about it is that you need to be *most tight* in the bottom of the catch. Because any slack there is lost energy and makes recovery harder.

Hey Greg, a random question. What should a long femured/short torso lifter think about when they setup for a pull/deadlift to avoid folding over?
@CatalystAthletics
@CatalystAthletics 3 жыл бұрын
Same as anyone else, they'll just be fighting a bit more tendency to tip, which means they need to invest more time/effort into strengthening the desired posture. See these videos on starting position and first pull - www.catalystathletics.com/collection/6/Snatch-Clean-Starting-Position-First-Pull/

@CatalystAthletics

Generally you should be doing pulls instead of deadlifting, but if you do DLs, do clean DL. See these - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rr-dha6pnNGWaGw.html www.catalystathletics.com/exercise/176/Clean-Deadlift/

How should I fix an uneven snatch turnover? One arm has a little faster turnover and punchout, and it gets worse at heavier weights
@CatalystAthletics
@CatalystAthletics 3 жыл бұрын
Have to figure out why to really address it. Be sure mobility is symmetrical and add some tall muscle snatches ideally in front of a mirror to keep even and strengthen/reinforce symmetrical pull.

need to watch to 0.75 speed for how fast you speech :D. Anyway, great video... but I don't understand how to meet the bar. What I do is simply move down faster than the bar and the bar crash on me... Don't know how to control and I don't have a clue to how to do that

I not understand this - whole point of clean is to get as low as posible as fast as posible to load most weight - why then you say to avoid this thing
@CatalystAthletics
@CatalystAthletics 2 жыл бұрын
The whole point of cleans is to lift as much weight as possible - what you describe is not totally accurate. The heavier the weight, the less you can elevate it, and the lower you'll need to move under to receive it. That does NOT mean trying to minimize bar elevation, and more relevant to this point, does not mean moving your body as low as possible irrespective of the bar's position. ALL cleans need to bring the bar and body together - that means that if the bar is not low, the body shouldn't be either, and vice versa.
