So far I have had only one infestation of fungus gnats. I allowed the top soil to dry out and watered the plants from the bottom. If I get them again I will try sprinkling diatomaceous earth over the top soil. I'm glad to learn about this solution, thanks for the info!

Great video and information. Thank you! It's important to use multiple controls for pests. BT is perfect for the larvae stage, but if you have a infestation of gnats it might be necessary to have yellow sticky traps to catch adults, as well as other measures, depending on your level of dedication and patience.. Nematodes are another good option for larvae. Be careful of where you buy plants. I have seen many large chain stores selling plants with fungus gnats and root aphids. The adult flies of root aphids are smaller and seem more intelligent when they land. But they are devastating and very difficult to get rid of if you have a large indoor garden. Sometimes you have to remove all contaminated soil and replace with fresh. Sometimes you have to sacrifice a plant😢 Hydrogen peroxide can work if used correctly, but you'd need to soak the entire soil mass and reintroduce good microbes into the soil. Always start with a low strength peroxide to ensure you don't burn the roots. I have used 0.25% h2o2 effectively on a lot of plants (maples, lilac, olive, hazelnut, cherry, cotina, pothos, philodendron, aloe, jade, dracaena, and more) followed with a rich compost tea.
