People get unreasonably mad about losing to a mid to low tier character, saying it takes little to no skill, as if the top tier characters are in the top tiers for being immensely challenging and require the most work for reward. It's functionally the opposite. Lower tiers are fundamentally under rewarding and heavily disadvantaged too often to be "smooth brained and cheap". You're more then often looking to over one underperformance or overcome bad matchups that should beat you.

KoF grapplers are the scariest thing to me cause they get all the same stuff the other characters get; good movement, invincibility on start up, wake up dp type grabs, GRABS WITH GUARD POINT THAT EAT ENTIRE SUPERS.

It is frustrating that if you ask someone what a "big brain" character is, they usually say a mechanically difficult character, and what a smooth brain character is, and they'll say a mechanically simple character. As if being forced to outsmart and manipulate your opponent to win because every option you have is easily beatable if your opponent is thinking clearly is tiny brain because you don't have to break your fingers doing it, it's ridiculous. As if burning combo routes into muscle memory is "big brain", how is being able to do a rote physical task big brain, so stupid

Unironically, Potemkin needs that grab damage. He needs to keep up with the faster characters in DPS but he’s so damn slow and sends you full screen to give you a chance to not get grabbed again. The grab damage is a proper deterrent to block and not block because Potemkin’s strike damage does more than his Overdrive. If it was any less reward, his strike throw wouldn’t be as good due to the rewards and efforts.

Don't play grapplers, but I do respect them as they are slow and require lots of patience!

i don't normally enjoy fighting games, but Potemkin from Strive feels like the perfect kinda character for me. character-wise and gameplay-wise. he allows me to think my options through better, and i genuinely feel like i've actually LEARNED something instead of violently tapping my buttons and rotating the stick to make my character do shit. i'd like to keep my fingers unbroken while performing combos, thanks- proud to be a fellow glue eater :)

It harder to land one grab as Pot than any Bread and butter of any other character of the cast. The damage is almost the same. It's completely fair, because I have to get through your bulshit and mashing to get one decent Pot Buster so I've earned it

I find that people only look at a grappler's strengths rather than why they *need* those strengths. Grapplers are big, slow combo food that can actually play the game if they guess right. Most grapplers either have slower traditional movement options (Zangief having a slower jump and dash) or none at all (Tager having no double jump, no dash and no air dash), often have very slow frame data, almost always have no reversals outside of supers or command grabs (but why would anyone with a brain cell be in a Grappler's face during their wake-up?), and usually can't escape pressure if the opponent has good frame data.

People hate grapplers because they start with damage but they need to work in neutral where as rushdown and zoners need to work for damage but they have good neutral.

To be fair there are a metric fuckton of Potemkin players in strive BECAUSE HES EZ they call it eating glue for a reason

If you want a game with a top tier grappler, play samsho 5 special! Kusaregedo is top 1 and has some disgusting stuff: fast long-range command grabs that do tons of damage, excellent normals, an absurd space control tool in vomit, and horrifying fullscreen timeslow unblockables that lead into issen for >40%. Also samsho is just the best fighting game series so yeah go play that

i know It's been a while. Tbh according japan's record and rating update. Pot is one of the "worst" match to ram. For example her corner pressure everybody that rage about. cs 236h 5k is common plan for ram right？Pot can just forward mega-fist to get big counter. Due to that ram's game plan changing from pressure to counter pot's option. The normal game-plan just doesn't work on pot. I'm fine with people said about their character. But ppl need to understand how the match up work.

Oh no. My biggest hate is Happy Chaos players.

2:57 Yeah, Tager kinda needs his magnetism. Except maybe against Terumi, but that's probably just me being biased in favor of my bottom tier main. And he especially needs it against the other members of the OG 12. Nu-13 is a bloody zoner, her drive is just shooting swords at you while she's halfway across the stage. Rachel has her wind to push you around. Hakumen's whole schtick is his drive being a dedicated counter, and being painful up close. Ragna, Jin, and Noel are just your typical glue eaters, and don't really need the magnetism (I think). Bang, and Taokaka aren't terrible, but Bang has his nails he can fly around on (with his OD making him the fastest thing in existence), and Tao has her drive that launches her straight ahead at the enemy. Litchi isn't too terrible either, but between her staff gimmick, and her flying all across the screen, I'd say she still deserves the magnets. And then there's Arakune and Carl. Carl, when used right, is a little shit. He'll be on the other side of the screen, poking you with his stupid robot sister, and he'll just run when you try to get close. As for Arakune, I've fought maybe two. I genuinely had no clue what the fuck was going on. I was bouncing across the entire screen, and then I was dead, somehow. And that's just the OG 12, I haven't even mentioned Hazama, Izanami, Izayoi, Nine, Susanoo, Lamda-11, Mu-12, or Relius. Yeah, Tager needs his magnets

I detest the slow grappler meme. It came about because grabs were busted in the first fighting game, and thus grapplers had to be slow with mediocre range to compensate. Ever since then most games have made grapplers slow and shitty. Every other character gets to run and air dash, but not the grappler for some reason, as if it's still the 1990s and there's no throw protection on block or wakeup. The only exception is SNK grapplers, who get to run and shortjump like everyone else. The CUCKED Arcsys grappler versus the CHAD SNK grappler. What do you think of that, gluesniffers?
