I can totally relate with “getting bored with everything” and I think that has a lot to do with why my house is a cluttered disaster, as well as shopping for retail therapy, shopping for boredom and not being able to resist a “bargain”. I’m a typical Gemini and get bored so easily and need variety and “excitement” in my life. But as I’m a single mum, with two teenagers and a 5 year old and no social life, no relationship and haven’t travelled overseas for years (which used to be my passion) I guess buying new things is the way I do it! I mostly buy things to try and improve my life, make it easier or more organised. But it’s just cluttering the house up more and making life worse and then because I get bored I buy a new version of something I already have and get rid of the old. It’s a vicious cycle. I would assume you are someone who doesn’t need variety or crave newness, being that your house is so minimal and cupboards so bare of food and you mentioned eating the same thing over and over! Food is another thing I have an abundance of because I never know what I will be in the mood to eat or want the kids whinging there’s nothing to eat so we have a lot of food waste and things open and not finished before they go stale or off! Clearly I need therapy for more than one reason! 😂 As I mentioned in another comment I’ve been decluttering on and off for many years but you’ve inspired me to really make it happen this time and I want to do it to an extreme level as I’m an all or nothing person, moderation doesn’t work for me! 😅 Thanks so much for creating your channel! Looking forward to learning more about you and what your life was like before you went extreme minimalist!

Retail therapy/boredom/bargains are all ways I've bought too much stuff in the house too 🤦🏻‍♀️I think I used to buy to fill a hole in my life but then soon realised it didn't improve my life but hindered it. I get bored of stuff really easily in the sense I could buy a lovely ornament/trinket that I love but after I've looked at it every day for a month I either get bored with it as it's not exciting anymore or I get blind to it and stop seeing it so it's actually pointless me having it! I'd rather enjoy them in the shops but then leave them there and then I'm constantly entertained with new stuff 🙂 I'm quite samey with food but I like to go everyday to the shops as it's an excuse to get out for a walk and I can choose what I want that day as I was the same as you, cupboards full but then got home and didn't fancy any of it and it went to waste!

For the first one, the 'treat shops like an art gallery' helps me most. Though I probably look werid going into TKMAXX and smelling all the DWHome Candles haha. ❤️

That is exactly how I feel lol. I sometimes say to Jazz, it feels a bit naughty, like stealing or something, as I'm getting so much enjoyment from it but it's all for free 😆

The most helpful one for me is “where will it go” do I prefer that space to be empty? Usually the answer is yes ❤
@minimalismandmore
@minimalismandmore 22 күн бұрын
That's a really good way of looking at it 🩷 I have the space in my home so I sometimes try and "convince" myself it can go somewhere but asking myself if it'll end up annoying me and become a nuisance once the novelty wears off seems to work 🙂

This video was great!! You brought up so many topics that we all face-the annoying chargers, buying an item just because it is on sale or may look good in a space you currently have (but may not have forever). I really like how you organized your questions, and really needed this just when we are all soon to be bombarded with 4th of July or “end of summer” sales here in the US. Thanks again and I am looking forward to you next video❤

Oh that's good timing! I didn't know you had sales on or around the 4th of July 🙂 I'm glad you enjoyed it and found it helpful, I thought I'd do more of an old school presentation style video this time as it's easier to screenshot the questions for future reference then 🙂🩷

Totally resonated with what you said. Unfortunately I am a minimalist with a shopping addiction, and a lot of it does end up in a charity shop 😔

I can definitely sympathise, I've often been the same. I still get tempted and sometimes slip up but I think I've broken the cycle now. I am so sick of spending time and money shopping and then time and energy decluttering and selling it or carrying it to the charity shop that I'd rather not buy 9/10 times now! Hopefully this video will help you when you are tempted 🩷
