iPhone security is usually quite good, but there has been a concern that a user who knows your passcode to unlock your iPhone could easily change your Apple ID and iCloud passwords. This is because once logged into iPhone with FaceID, TouchID or your passcode you can easily change the Apple Password. In this video I show you how to stop anyone who knows your iPhone unlock password for easily changing your Apple account password and secure your iPhone running iOS 16.3.1, iOS 16.4 and future versions of iOS.

The fact of the matter is that, there really isn't anything Apple can do about it now besides making it impossible to recover your AppleID in the event that you forget your iCloud password. Some people say that Apple should request for your old AppleID password when trying to change your password. The problem here is that, by doing so you can't gain access to your AppleID again if you forget your password. If someone gains access to your iPhone password/passcode they can still change your AppleID password without going into settings. All they have to do is try to login to your iCloud through the web, and go through the "forgot password" method. They'll receive the two factor authentication code through SMS or mail on the same iPhone and change your iCloud password. The only viable solution is to protect your iPhone password/passcode as much as possible.

Or the lady that got her Apple ID locked out, could’ve just used a more complicated password instead of a 4digit password. She wouldn’t have been a victim. I see many people use the 4 digit number passcode, it’s just ridiculous how little awareness they have.

Great tip, it seems as though a secondary passcode of some sort to change the password would be a simple fix for Apple to initiate.

Aaron I have watched your videos for a long time now and may I say enjoyed all of them but this is the best and most informative of all. I just watch a video with someone who interviewed a female that her phone was taken in a bar and she was locked out of EVERYTHING in her iCloud account including her MacBook and could not retrieve anything she had including valuable photos which she had stored. They even broke into her financial accounts and stole thousands of dollars. Thank you and this method seems very valuable

This is awesome stuff Aaron. I activated mines now. Super useful. Do you plan to do more of these security type videos or nah? A mac mini/macbook etc security video would be cool to make those even more secure. or even ipad.. i'm sure most of the settings for iphone can apply for ipad/mac. but i did see some more security settings on my mac mini. and was wondering on those. they actually hacked my mom's whatsapp today and thankfully I helped her recover it. but wild that you then posted this video lol so now im paranoid activating security features even tho I personally try to have as much security features enabled..But I wasn't aware of this one. Great stuff

Interesting and very helpful. It’s helpful also knowing that the person has to know the main password before hand. I’d also love to see videos of Jailbreak tweaks… not for the sake of it, but for the sake of seeing what can be improved in iOS.

I saw this "vulnerability" a few weeks ago on another channel and until then never knew this was a thing. Thanks for getting the message out. Why Apple have taken a decision to require you to enter your password in order to use the app store but not to change your password is madness!

I saw that with WSJ video It’s a huge security issue And if Apple allows this is because the iPhone is considered as a « safe » device But the old password must ALWAYS been entered to know for sure it’s you I hope it will be fixed as soon as possible

@@ColonelLucario If they absolutely MUST make it so you don't have to enter your old password, perhaps for in case you forget your password, then they need to add back in secret questions. The old legacy 2-Step Verification will ask you for secret questions when you attempt to enter iCloud settings from an iPhone or iPad, it's why my iCloud account doesn't have this vulnerability, I still have the legacy 2-Step Verification enabled.

@@ColonelLucario Doesn't mean they need to get rid of the 6-digit code 2FA, just means, there needs to be secret questions or some other kind of verification for when you're accessing sensitive Apple ID settings from an Apple device. It'll stop them from just seeing your passcode and snatching your phone. If that's combined with 2FA then perhaps this vulnerability can be patched.

So get this..... I had done this but I forgot how, so I made a mess of screentime by turning it off and losing all my history which really annoyed me, because I couldn't remember how to unlock it again. 🤦🏻‍♂ Now your video appears explaining it all. Brilliant! Thx Aaron 👍🏻😄

Thanks for the tip thanks to this video I have enabled this feature as I take online security very seriously. Because I use 2FA but Not SMS 2FA I use apps and security keys.
