Omg!! I wish I found your video (and amazing channel overall) a little sooner! I needed to constraint two different objects together without joining them for a simulation and you have no idea how much brainwork, helper and inbetween geometries it needed when I could have just used this amazing workflow! It reminds me a little of how vellum works with this non-destructive method. Amazing! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us! ♥😭 Definitely subscribing!

I'm back to making cloth sims a year later and I remembered you linked me this version of the tutorial in the previous video. It's so simple and so good! Currently working on a project where I have to reveal a luxury item beneath a cloth. 😄

I'm just adding this to my own comment in case anyone else stumbled upon the same challenge: I was trying to move the cloth with the pins but it just detaches as soon as I moved them. The simple solution to this problem was to just parent the cloth to the pins and then it works perfectly.

how can you pin some vertices in ordder to pull the cloth? I did the assignment to a vertex group, parent it to a hook (empty object) but the plane got flat, anyone has this issue too?

At 6:17, what's the other way to flip it? The colorRamp node isn't working when I flip it :(

Make sure to clear your simulation Cache before playing the simulation through again. You can also use the map range node and swap the “to min” and “to max values to 1 and 0 instead of 0 and 1. Then you can use the “from max” value to change the falloff 💕

I don't really see the advantages of using geometry nodes for something like this. You could use a combination of Subdivision surfaces , Dynamic paint, and Cloth modifiers while still being non destructive. This method allows you more screen space, and less fiddling with noodles.

as far as I know, in this kind of excercise, subdivide the mesh by Geo Nodes will end in a less heavier mesh than using subdivide mesh+subdivide modifier. I am not an expert, just looking the results after some simulations...
