Funny, I just literally finished a great game on your server, and when I first joined a squad there was absolutely no communication. I started calling out enemy positions and communicating with the squad leader and it wasn't long before the entire squad was talking and working together effectively.

Staying with your squad is such an important feature in communication. “Enemy tank at 260” doesn’t mean dick if you’re 700 yards away.

The compass advice is legit. Had a match earlier today playing German tanker. Eventually me and the driver had a veteran gunner join so I happily went to spotter. Whenever I saw an enemy I would ping, call out distance, point in the compass and if the target was moving, what direction they were moving in. It was only my 3rd ever battle as I'm a newbie, but working together got us a win to the tune of 125 infantry kills and 8 enemy vehicles destroyed.

I love hearing "There's a tank over there!" In command chat.

The first time I played I panicked when I started hearing people and left, then I took a deep breath and started talking to people, this game made me more open

Good video. I'm introverted irl, but a few good matches in this game with decent communicative squads has me having no issues with comms. I'm actually usually the one to get things verbal. It's important to keep things positive in this game, it's grindy to begin with.

Few tips I have found..avoid phrases like 'right, left, other side, behind' instead 'enemy infantry, north side of train cars on my ping' much easier for approaching. I play MG a lot so love plenty of pings to see where to supress.

It would be cool if you could hear enemy prox chat when nearby them. That would create some epic moments.

I have been in several games where there was zero comms, several with way too much chatter, and several where good comms made the game very enjoyable. The ones that take the cake are the ones with Asperger’s commanders who are easily angered. Super fun.

Excellent video! Nothing worse than jumping into a game that's already kicking off and having no clue as to where the enemy are coming from and what you're meant to be doing. The game is a hell of a lot more immersive and enjoyable when you have good communication. Saying that some days you just don't feel too chatty so taking on roles that require minimal communication can still make you feel useful without letting your squad down. At some stage a tanking video would be great! Drivers calling out or asking if you're ready to move rather than lining up an enemy tank as a gunner just to have your driver randomly turn the tank 😫 Most of all, don't be a dick to your squad or team!

So I recently just started playing this game, and after my friends signed off, I continue to play. I mentioned to a guy on recon squad that was my first time and he walked me through. It was very helpful. I asked if there was any helpful tutorials out there and he said soul sniper easily was the best one on KZfaq… I can see why now! So glad that he pointed me here and I wish I remembered his gamer tag…

There needs to be a "Command All" channel where the commander can talk to the entire team. Many times squad leaders don't talk so you have no idea when the commander is telling them "don't advance there's an air strike coming in" or something like that or "everyone push!".....

I was in a round last night that had one fella in my squad who's mic vol was so loud & muffled it was basically ear rape & actually sounded like E.T when he freaks out & to top it off, you could hear a rooster cocking in the background every other minute. Safe to say they got muted.

What I hope to hear when I'm playing as a commander: "Commander, can you drop supplies nearby Able supply drop mark at G8/Able squad?" (Atleast I can see letter A in map to find their location) What I usually hear: Someone: "Commander, can you drop supplies to my location?" Me: "Who is talking? Where are you?" *10s silence* Someone: "Commander?" My mind: FML Small things make a big difference.

I find that it's helpful to use team chat (text) to ask the commander for stuff at the start of the game if you're not SL (Like if you're engineer trying to get some nodes quickly and asking for a supply truck), And for apologising when you accidentally blow your teammates heads off.

Excellent Video as always! It it also of note that you can adjust the amount of time pings appear for in the settings if you want more or less than 5 seconds, personally I am a fan on 8. you can also dismiss them by pressing t once or twice depending on if your hud is already up

This is brilliant im new to hll, and i got to say a lot dont actually talk on this game.

I am thinking of going full Squad Leader as soon as many people don’t want to do it. And my good tip is just be clear on comms, get OPs up regularly. But biggest of all is praise your team when they do well, they work better and it’s when I get most multiple commendations at the end of the game. Don’t shill for these, be genuine though!

I just started playing and my biggest problem with coms was I didn't have my mic set up properly. Since I got over that hurdle my biggest issue is saying OP when I mean Gary.

There is a German speaking that says: Reden ist Silber, Schweigen ist Gold. Speaking is silver, silence is gold. But in this case u got me 100% 😅 more accurate coms in general would be great and feedback from teammates or squad members. I got a lot of Players on Console, that do not want and not able to talk. I guess it's the standard shooter player spray and pray 😅

As someone who is partially deaf I always appreciate it when people check mic volumes and qualities and respond well to "Squad repeat last" requests. My hearing aides help a lot since they have blutooth function to my computer or phone, but that drains the batteries really fast so sometimes I start a match with them plugged in. Someone with awful microphone quality basically makes them impossible for me to understand.

One thing I would add...people frequently do callouts relative to their position ...ie garrison near me-this is always really hard to find because you have to note their name and then scan the map for their name...just ping the environment near you while you make this sort of callouts!

3 games yesterday. 1 had mediocre comms. Other 2 were dead except for one guy who would not shut up trying to be the class clown.

Sometimes people get kicked from a squad some reason, then make their own squad just to talk shit to the squad leader

I am not afraid to talk....LoL but have a hard time just effin putting into words what is happen....tongue tied I guess excited because though It's intimidating as I have been in HLL only a few hours with obvious vets, they have been cool as shit!! But I do run a squad in wwiionline so once I get the lingo down it'll get easier I'm sure.

there is nothing worse than being in a squad that doesnt talk and play their roles. they should limit how many riflemen you can have per squad back down to 2 or even 1 tbh. everytime i play i tell people that if they want to learn faster about how to play the game, roles, aiming etc to use youtube. you will improve faster than just playing for hours upon hours.

An important video and really not a bad one, not at all! But I feel like this video takes topics like being Squadleader or Commander too heavily into account. It's not quite the "general communication"-video which I thought it might be when spotting it. As said, not a bad video, but it's repeating some other topics already covered in other videos of you and there would been quite much more general stuff about communication you could have covered here.

I love this game, But I miss the Socom days of Proximity chat being passive and being heard by the enemy. And channel chat could be overheard.

Developers need to add an option to automatically lower the audio of the chats you aren't using. So that when everyone in command starts a shouting match, I can still hear my squad.

On PC pressing ‘T’ will pop up the squad name on the bottom left along with squad mates. I use it often because I forget lol

You can use the “addrac” method if u need to. Write this down and remember everytime u get shot at yell it to near by teammates. 1) Alert. Alert all members of the unit to be ready to receive further instructions. (2) Direction. Orient the unit to the location of the enemy. (3) Description. Give the unit a brief and accurate description of the target. (4) Range. Give the unit information needed to adjust point of aim. (5) Assignment. Tell the unit who is to fire on which target. (6) Control. Give the unit the command to commence firing. Return fire and gain fire superiority. Example- Contact,front,rear,left or right 200m,1 round every 3 seconds !!!

If you're not willed to communicate, it is the wrong game for you.

Everytime I join a squad I say "hey whatsup guys" and that almost always gets people talking. Its easier to speak to people when there has actually been some sort of introduction first.

I’m rank 35 on ps5. About half of the time when I join a squad, I’m the only one trying to talk. I assume the matches are ranked somewhat right? Will I start seeing more communication as I progress in rank?

Had a game today with the absolute best player I've ever seen, but this heavy French accent made it almost impossible to understand him. BUT. I didn't matter, he just did it all himself. I ping target, he just kills everything with headshots.... His score brought attention of the admins, They found he was completely legit. Language is a barrier, but work through it, you'll learn stuff if you're willing.

Honestly, I hate it when games have proximity chat but don't allow you to hear the enemy within range, it just makes it feel so artificial and pointless. And by the way, don't give me BS like "but it'll give away your position and it'll ruin your tactics and planning." First of all, you're already running across open fields, dealing with muzzle flashes and tracers--and you're here worrying about your position? Besides, the maps are huge and to actually hear each other you'd have to be pretty damn close. It's called proximity chat for a reason. Not to mention with the constant small arms fire and explosions, it's probably not gonna be that easy to hear shit. Second, planning comes before hand. I know there's that saying "no plan survives first contact," but if you have an objective to complete you plan out how you're gonna complete it well before you get there. My biggest issue with not being able to hear the enemy within proximity with local chat is how it negatively affects situational awareness. Think about it: you can hear enemy rifle and machine gun fire, their grenades hitting and rolling the dirt besides you, maybe you could even hear their footsteps and when their crawling upon on you. And yet, you can't hear enemy chatter on the other side of a wall? I've seen people walk right into a trap in Squad because they couldn't hear the enemy talking on the other side. Another major issue is how it only encourages poor VOIP practices, AKA yakking. When the enemy can't hear you on the mic, even if their really close you'd likely think that you can just chat up a storm because they can't hear you. Well, just because they can't hear you chatting up a storm, doesn't mean they can't hear you. But while you're busy yakking away on the mic, you're missing important details such as footsteps, crawlers, reload sounds, etc. But you can't hear any of that 'cause you're too busy yakking, and I've seen this behavior multiple times. "But the devs behind Project Reality had cross-team local chat and they got rid of it 'cause it was causing problems." The devs were idiots, it's as simple as that. That and the players were irresponsible with their comms and obviously had no idea what they were doing. All this to say: I'm not gonna play Hell Let Loose or Squad, or any tactical online shooter with proximity chat but doesn't allow me to hear the enemy within proximity. Especially when these games have such massive maps and a decent amount of engagements occur within 100 to 200 meters, it's ridiculous how anyone can worry about the enemy hearing them. Hell, Insurgency has enemy-to-enemy local chat and significantly smaller maps, yet it seems to do just fine. So, what's the problem?

Sadly vivox is a massive let down in this game...great when it works but it just suddenly decides not to...then you are in a world of pain. I have had no vivox for over a month. Sick of being booted for no Comms. Team 17 and vivox have no fix but it's happening more and more often to more and more people. All other VoIP games work perfectly.
