What is strange is that big companies construct wind turbines and passenger airplanes one kg of epoxy resin only costs fifty cents. If a private home hobbyist buys epoxy resin, it suddenly costs sixty dollars per kg. What's going on there?

Excellent advice Steve! I see so many crafters using the wrong tools for the job, and then complaining loudly about how bad this product or that product is; when it’s simply a matter of being too lazy or too frugal to get the correct tools. If you use the right tools, in the correct fashion, you’re far more likely to get good results.

Great information! I know from experience that I’m not to be trusted with using heat sources on my resin. I have only fused a mold once, but I have burned the resin so many times that it’s embarrassing since I KNOW BETTER. 😂😂😂 I super love using that large mixing pot too! I don’t even want to use my other ones after getting that one.

Another great video Steve. Would be good if you could have the number in a darker colour so it can be seen better. So many people say resin not cured, it's bendy after a month etc I always say ratios or mixing were off but they argue it perfect not knowing cheaper cups have inaccurate measurements. Amines are another one the other day some women telling a newbie off saying it's the temperatures dropping causing the problem so buy a heat mat and it'll solve it 🤦

80 with high humidity is hotter than 100 with no humidity. Speaking from experience I went from Mississippi 90 degrees and 99% humidity I swear, to kuwait 140 degrees dry heat and it certainly only felt like a 10 degree increase not 50

I did my first resin project last night - but with the wrong product! I used Alumilite's Mold Maker instead of Casting Resin and now it's stuck in the mold. Is there a way to get it out like heat? I dug out the top layer and was wondering if a layer of Casting Resin over the residue would pull it out? Thanks in advance Steve 😍😍😍

Thanks for the tips. I'm new at making resin crafts and I definitely have had issues with measuring equal parts even when I think the amounts are perfectly measured out. I was very disappointed in my outcomes so much I thought it was a waste of time to continue. Two years later, and after watching some of your videos, I've slowly been collecting more supplies to give it another go. Mainly need to get some pigments to mix color, additives and a heat mat but then I should be ready to give it another whirl. I'll have to check your link on the Teexpert set. Thanks for the great info.

A spritz of Isopropyl alcohol (IPA), 91+%, can be used to decrease surface tension to pop bubbles. If the mold is spritzed with IPA before a pour, it can also prevent bubbles from forming along the face of the mold. It'll affect patterns differently than heat, so you might want to experiment with it. More tools for the resin toolbox.

The vacuum chambers are great for pots of resin but lousy for poured molds. Its almost impossible to pick up a poured mold and move it successfully, not to mention the resin 'swells' while its degassing and would ruin your mold and chamber. Hence the lighter or heat gun. I hope that helps!🌞👍

I’ve been using the plastic cups to mix resin to make ring holders and find that the bottom of my ring holders always look cloudy (if I wipe it with alcohol its clear but goes back to cloudy so I know its the outside). Could this be because of improper measurements from the cups?? Or is there another reason? Im using T-Expert or Lets Resin brands so I know Im using quality resin.

Hmmm. Sometimes, a spritz of alcohol can mess up the surface of resin, but that doesn't sound like what you doing? Very possible that either your room is too cool, or far too humid.

Do you use a heat pad at all to cure your projects? I’m having a lot of trouble and a lot of ruined makes. I use the heat pad on medium, one project looked amazing, put it on heat mat, covered it with the hood and when I went to get what I thought would be a great cured piece, the resin had cured but it had all separated in the mould, other pieces have warped in the mould during curing process, so frustrating and expensive! I find low heat is too low and I don’t like using the high heat. Help Steve 🙏
@invisiblue3212

Hi there👋 Im fairly new to resin, but is it possible that you're rushing the cure time with too much heat? If the outer resin cures too quickly it will warp once the inner resin cures. Have you tried leaving them to cure at room temp for 48 hours? On humid days it takes my projects a few hours longer to set, just wondering if maybe they just needed more time. It may also be as he stars in the video that if the amounts of a and b are even the slightest bit off it affects the final result and curability. I hope you find your answers!🌞👍
