Stop putting the light in the wrong place. I see images all the time and I'm thinking, “Why don't they understand where to set the key light?” It's not a difficult thing if you understand it. We're going to talk about it today. When you put the light in the right place it looks fantastic. See how we used one speedlight to light these portraits. Take a look and let us know if you have any questions!

As with so many subjects, you want the light to travel across your subject (in an artistically pleasing way) to get the best pictures. Renaissance painters did the exact same thing. Formula worked then, as it does now and will continue to work.

This is great, easy and practical. Only time I would stray from this is when my subject is a lady which isn't young and wouldn't like to show her wrinkles. Broad light may be more flattering in that situation, imo.

A huge issue that I come across all the time is my models turning away from the light. Yes I move it when I can. But they like to move even after I do. And yes I instruct them not to. Drives me crazy sometimes! Hard to move lights too when using more than one. Best case scenario is the model who actually listens. But definitely easier said than done. Lol.

Butterfly lighting allows the model to move around the most without having to reset your lights.

I do not know why you keep turning female body towards the light....rule of thumb is : female body away from light face towards it....i commentednon the same issue in another video you did not answee...here the same mistake...teach them proper positions. Teach them right.
@DamonBowe
@DamonBowe 9 ай бұрын
You don’t need to turn the body into the light, just the head. By not turning the body you are losing the curve that makes females attractive. If you can just turn her head, pose her legs better than flat footed, it would be much nicer. I think you have the right idea but this is just a little bit off for my taste in posing.

Lol I would not say she is + Size, muscular, yes but not obese. Plus size/obese models are unattractive and unhealthy - what's so "Socially responsible" about that?
