In this tip, I want you to stop rushing your downswing. So many people I see swing so fast they literally have no time to even use their body to hit the ball.
I say this because your arms move way faster than your body in life. So if your body moves slow, and you're trying to use it to hit your shots, you need to stop rushing your downswing. Instead, wait for the body to start first and the arms to follow.
This is what pros are doing. Pros hit the ball with the body leading arms following. This is all pros that do this. So if they are doing this, you need to do it too. Watch this tip then try what I am suggesting. This will help you stop rushing your downswing which will give you time to start your body first. Do that and you are now doing what pros are doing. This means you will hit the ball longer and straighter than ever.

Thanks for the support. So glad you are getting it. Yes, people just have to listen. I am handing it to everyone on a silver platter. The problem is the ball and human nature telling you to hit it. Need to understand it and do a few moves/positions. If so you change your swing and hit it great. It's simple but different but anyone can do this.

Glad you liked it. Thanks. Making changes can be tough but what I ask people is have you hit that one shot 30 to 50 yards farther than any other shot? I bet you have. Then I ask what it felt like? They say nothing, effortless, like they didn't hit anything at all. If everyone has experienced this then why not learn that swing? Feeling nothing versus trying to whack it would definitely feel different but it gets a way better result so I would become obsessed with that golf swing. Stay focused. You will get it in no time. Just keep watching and practicing my tips.

That’s the best news I’ve ever heard. Don’t rush the down swing. I can see that I’ve been preventing my body from getting into the position that we get into when we throw a fast ball, by throwing my arms too soon. I think I’ve gotten it. One two and three.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
For sure. People are so fast in transition they don't even have time to use their body. Almost stop at the top and allow the body to lead arms follow. If you keep doing it in practice swings you will do it in reality.

@@paulwilsongolf I speak for myself when I say that because I am a high handicapper, and I mean really high, mostly the result of insufficient natural ability and not in past times being a good enough student, because of preferring the satisfaction of whacking the ball; a certain tension has built up in me. This is the result of frustration from game deterioration because I’m 75. But also a good amount of this tension has resulted from the realisation that I’ve been doing it all wrong. And the thought of becoming a new golfer, albeit a much improved one, how could I be any worse, is putting a strain on my game. I’m starting from scratch. But obviously not a scratch player. And this has been worrying me and giving me tension. Its been messing with my golf confidence. But hallelujah I’ve just had a mental breakthrough. And it’s this. My key thought to overcome this problem is “ be natural and relaxed” and this thought is relaxing me and giving me back my a sense of timing plus hope from believing I can really improve. The tension was blocking this. Maybe there is hope for me yet now that this mental blockage has been removed, at least I think it has, and I can play some good golf. In my case playing to a 15 handicap would be a marvellous achievement. My short game is ok and I can putt decently enough but if I can just hit them down the middle wow. That’d be something else. Thanks Paul for your great teaching. The penny is dropping. I’ll keep watching your videos till the cows come home.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
I totally get it. Natural and relaxed are great thoughts. If you have been swinging hard and tight and it is not working then you need to do something completely different. This is not about hitting anything. You are making a movement. This movement is powered with the legs and hips not the hands and arms. If it were as easy as just hitting hard everyone would get this and be good players. Few are so they must be doing it a different way. Keep in mind though, better players typically learned as little kids and minimal arm strength. This is a huge difference compared to the adult who tried to learn with arm strength. So see it differently. If you can understand this concept of using your legs and hips and you are focusing on them to power you swing we are then on the same page and you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams. I say this because we are both on the same page. If you are doing something we are not you will never get it. Stay focused and keep doing practice swings daily. Hinge/rehinge and coil/uncoil.

Hi Paul... Been following you for a couple of years now... You always give great tips in a way an average golfers can understand... I feel sometimes I rush my shots. I can't seem to break the pattern of hitting amazing shots on the driving range and been able to do the same thing on the course... I seem to think it's a common thing for us average golfers. Is there a way to break this pattern? Maybe a possible video for you to do in the future.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Glad you are still with me. Just do what I said in this tip. Do the count. If you counted like that you are following the cadence. Why would you rush it if you were saying it like that to yourself. Maybe try this on every shot in a round. Also, keep in mind you are rushing because you are thinking distance thoughts on the course. At the range you are not. So you need to change those thoughts too. I tell people going from the range to the course you should swing no more than 50% for a few rounds. This is new and different and you are not good at it. So give me 1 round that you try it. Remember the cadence. Swing no more than 50%. I guarantee you will hit mind blowing shots. 1 round of your life. Let me know how you did.

It's hard to get synced up sometimes. If your body is too far ahead, you can't get around and I will push hard right. Timing is key
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Timing is easy to get. You need too hook everything first. Ball after ball. Then you know what you are going to do before you do it. Right now you are playing army golf so you have no idea where it's going to go. Once you do that you start to add body to straighten it out. Once you hit it straight you memorize how much legs it took you. Watch: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mLKjnqqqnNjZnKM.html

Great video even if were talking fractions of seconds!, ive rushed/hit at the ball with my hands/clubhead when a hacker and still occasionally rush/hit at ball with body. As PW says body big muscles slower, plus they are fighting gravity up through the ball whilst gravity is helping already fast arms I differ slightly as due to past fault i go for a fast move away. But im using my slow body in a fast way not my arms! But who can go against PW advice at top,there has to be a gathering, Name me another sport youve been good at, when you have put effort,aggression, speed in the backswing,tennis baseball etc never! you just get ready to move through Golf needs a little at the start, as its a heavier implement and youre standing still so you need a little more ground/body to get it moving But even more important to have no effort at the top as you need body momentum to get a heavy club moving back the other way Stop Rushing Your Downswing

What you need to do is to work on using your body. This way you have 2 power sources. Hitting with the arms and using your body. At that point it should dawn on you that you not longer need to hit with the arms. Right now your arms are the power source so why would you turn the off? You wouldn't. You need to add another power source. This is not going to happen on it's own. You need to learn it and think about it on every shot. There's a load of nonsense going around that in order to create more speed , you have to increase the speed of your backswing and its just garbage advice. Go watch Cameron Champ, he has one of the slowest backswing on the PGA tour.
@paulwilsongolf
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
How many average golfers have you seen with a fast backswing? Almost everyone. So why are they not hitting it a long way. For the average person swinging fast tightens them up. Tighten up and you will hit it nowhere. So although doing a faster backswing would help a better player who has a slow backswing it will never work for average players unless of course they were swinging so slow it was hampering their coil. Tips like that should start with a disclaimer that this only applies to better players that already have a decent golf swing.
