Another excellent video - much like the dodging and burning video, this is about patience and being meticulous. I think too many people rush edits rather than making many layers and labelling everything.

Thank you ! & you're absolutely right, patience is often key. Even today I'm so glad i've been learning early on to work on layers to be able to open edits I made years ago. So if someone can be convinced to switch to a non destructive editing with this video, I'll be the happiest haha

Great tips!! I use to have to redo a whole image because a client did not want to have a piece of hair removed and I had to redo tje whole image because I retouched destructively. This is a very important fundamental.

I think the best way to learn is by doing the mistake !! I started working in photoshop doing composites, and I quickly learnt that by not working on layers, I was stuck at the first mistake and had to redo all over again :')

Where would you place a frequency separation group and layers, on top as a last layer ? Or as a first layer just above the background ?

Frequency separation, is kind of destructive, so in my workflow, I'd add FS group on top as a last layer. You might have to add a few things on top, but in any case, I would not do it at the very beginning of the edit. The most destructive action = the latest possible

@@louimagin.learnretouching thanks for your fast answer 👍 Logically for a non destructive workflow it should be above it all but many of us add the FS anytime during the process and then have no way to work back on layers below the FS (I've done this sooo many times 😁🤪)

@@sebseb3034 Yeah you need to experience it to then realize you're wasting more time trying to fix the problems that are under the FS layers 😂
