I'm a tea grower and tea maker in the US. What he says about bags is true and they should be avoided if possible. Usually, the tea in the bags is of the lowest quality as well. Also, true teas are made from a plant called Camellia sinensis, which is what he's serving here. The jasmine is merely an added flavoring; most of the character comes from the plant itself.

@greeleyestateslove11 ай бұрын
If it's made of PAPER, it's fine to steep and drink in the bag (though there could be some glue holding the paper together at the seams so if that bothers you, then don't steep in the paper bag). If the tea bag is made of a mesh/plastic, or you are unsure, yes cut it open and put the loose tea in a stainless steel tea steeper thing to steep as normal. There are several kinds of steel tea steepers.

I just want people to be aware and make better purchasing decisions because when enough of us boycott a product they WILL improve/change it to meet our standards, the problem is too many ignorant people buying crap and not knowing any better. What you spend your money on does make a difference, so spend wisely!

@@beiget7609 it's literally the fine tea dust , the sort of thing you see at the bottom of your tea caddy. You know that fine powder? Rather then the bigger tea leaves. They put all that into the tea bags to bulk it out and it's cheaper, and the best stuff goes to the lose tea packs.

It's only the silly, see-through teabags that are made of plastic and thus release microplastics into your tea. Paper tea bags are perfectly fine. However, loose leaf tea is often higher quality than bagged and you're not paying extra for all the extra packaging. I have a big fancy loose leaf collection but sometimes I'm lazy and use Barry's in a mug.

Another reason to avoid tea bags even if it is not for health reasons is that loose leaf tea tastes way better.
