The reason that soap side was dirtier is because they used a bar of soap. If you were to use like a bottle of soap, you would probably get much cleaner.

that is actually a thing btw bc i breath with my stomach and not my chest see "Humans are "belly breathers," and just above your stomach is a major muscle in the respiration process, the diaphragm. Proper breathing starts in the nose and then moves to the stomach as your diaphragm contracts, the belly expands and your lungs fill with air." its actually interesting though im trying not to breath with my stomach bc it can cause a pooch belly and ew i dont want that

It has nothing to do with your belly or stomach and is training your body to use the actual muscles and functions it has that are designed specifically for breathing; like the diaphragm. Vocalists train themselves to breathe using their diaphragm and it doesn't cause your stomach to pooch at all. That's just a lie.

@@rosewater226soap is soap, dove is not harsh for your skin but there isn't really a moisturising soap, all soaps dry your skin. You should not use harsh soaps. According to dermatologist we don't even need to use soap like we do, only is specific eras. I say that as someone that suffered from eczema for 6 months and i had to change my bath routine, no more hot water and less soap.

I think removing bad bacteria and skin buildup is what’s important using not stripping soap and exfoliating cloth seems to make my legs pretty happy:)

We did this in school. There is more growth on the dish after washing with soap bc you wash away the protective layer on your skin. The growth is from bacteria that live in your skin (and are supposed to). So no, youre not dirtier after washing. You just get more skin bacteria on the dish!

I stopped washing my legs when MattPat said this, but I started getting acne on my thighs. When I started washing my legs again, it started to clear up.

Probably because soap removes oils and that contributes to acne not just bacteria

@@rosequill7925yup. The bacteria part is only because they tested using bar soap, which will pick up bacteria as it’s used. I’d assume the result would be less bacteria on the soap washed leg if they used a liquid soap.

@@Leave1t that helps, but it’s still more effective to just use the liquid stuff, since finding the soap bar doesn’t guarantee it’s removed everything from its surface, bottled soap will be clean every use.

They only used Dove as a control. If they used multiple soaps the data would be meaningless with too many variables. I think they acknowledged in the episode that it probably merits a follow-up where they just test different soaps instead.

But my daily 12 hour office job does not consist of me getting dirty or sweaty so no I don’t need to fully scrub my legs every morning. I also don’t wash my hair daily, did you know that was healthy too? lol

Most “soaps” these days are actually detergents and are very hard to rinse off completely. Too sudsy. The left over film protects and feeds the bacteria. Make sure you rinse the film off well. Especially those moisturizing cleansers.
