In irrigation, there is what you call, Seepage-- It is the amount of water that you lose when you use canals. So canals are bad? Yes, and so when you make a water system, you should do away as much with so many canals. Canals are the reason for seepage.
Now the right question is; How much seepage is actually lost if you use canals? You will be surprised that you are actually losing as much as 40 percent. It means that if you pay 100 pesos for your gas, you are throwing away 40 pesos. I do not know about you but 40 pesos is just too much.
In what way can you avoid seepage then. The answer is to place strategic points where you place ports. These ports are usually high places. (Ports - Water Outlet). It is just like extending you water system and transmitting water from designated places for each section of your farm.

Can you just imagine, during the summer, water does not seem to reach even half of your farm. So it is time to invest in an effective water system. Look at the cost of losing money; if you buy gas at 1500 pesos to irrigate your farm, you do not lose at least 400 pesos.
