This Horse Riding Lesson will help you stop your horse - does your horse fall through the corner? If he does, then this lesson is for you. It's quick and simple but so effective. It requires you to listen to your horse first and then tell him what you expect him to do.
Training a horse requires you to listen to your horse as horse training is two-way communication and in this horse training video, I show you how to listen to him first so you can see what he understands and then I show how to let him know what you would like him to do. This video will help you to steer a horse and with bending a horse as your inside leg plays a pivotal part in both horse exercises.

This is a great lesson to teach your horse not to fall through your inside leg. It's quick and simple too!

I'm green and confused about the use of seat, leg and rein in this example. What are you doing with you seat in the turn? Where on the horse are you using the leg in relation to the girth?? And are you using rein? It is hard to see on the videos. The arrows and slow mo are great to point out when things are happening. Thank you.

Hi Marie, I'm not using any other aids. I'm just focussing on teaching the horse to move off my leg. I did say to sit there and do nothing as we want to get feedback from the horse as to where he wants to turn then we have a baseline to work from. I'm not sure if you have the guide I've written but I break down the basic principles of how I teach the horse in that. I will leave a link below. The link will add you to my mailing list too (you can unsubscribe anytime) but I send an email with every video release and add some more details and insights in the email. I hope that helps 🙂 Guide Link 👉 basichorsetraining.com/3-principles/

@Marie One thing you can do besides watching these super helpful videos is to research rider biomechanics videos. So many equestrians put up videos and some are great and correct but many can be full of confusion and advice that is not so correct. (By correct, I mean effective, efficient and what has the horse’s wellbeing in the forefront) If you have a question about something, search the actual ? in to google and see what articles and videos come up but choose to look at things that are from well known professionals in the industry and popular magazines publications and so on. I wish I had known about rider biomechanics when I was starting out back in my teens.

Thank you for this! My horse tends to do this particularly in a couple of places in my arena. Sometimes it turns into a bit of a tug of war to keep/get him on the rail.

There is. His dad is a 13:1 pony and mum a 15:2 mare and I was hoping to get a pony. He had the longest legs when he was born and I have a photo of him taken from front on as he was unfolding his front legs the get up for the first time. He looked just like a spider. All legs and a small body 😆

Could you do a video on collecting the trot? My horse can do a pretty impressive collected canter, which I taught by basically asking for tiny rears which turned into a collected canter. I can even get a couple steps of pirouette or canter in place. With the trot however, I can’t ask for tiny rears because only one front leg moves at a time, and if I do try to ask for the tiny rears, he does a collected canter. I can’t ask for collection in walk or trot without him thinking canter. Any advice?
