Continuing this Cesar911 Episode, I help a family who has gone through a recent heartbreaking event.
Leon, the family's dog, visits the Dog Psychology Center for more training with Cesar.
This episode focuses on how our energy can cause our dogs to react and behave a certain way.
It is important to live in the moment and pay attention to the energy we are creating.

I can’t stand dog owners that just hide their eyes when their dog fights, not even trying to command them off. Get a cat.

Exactly. My dog is a year old now. Early on, when I introduced him to one of nieces, he growled. I immediately corrected that bs and helped her be confident, explaining you rule the dog, he doesn't rule you. Never happened again.

Yep!! I've pulled a pit bull off of a cocker spaniel! I was at a dog park a year ago with my dogs and a pittie had his teeth around a cockers neck , I ran in and dug my nails into the dogs mouth on his upper roof of his mouth and he let go! Remember that guys! His owner was like no mamm don't try while he hitting his dog in his head and nothing would stop him! My instincts set in and I'm not afraid! You have to let know a dog who's boss! The owner not the animal.

Same i don't understand it even my 2 girls with autism tell my dogs no. And my 2 year old makes my dogs sit and wait to get their food. My kids used to be scared and I tell them no, Just tell the digs no and to listen now my pups don't jump or hurt my kids and they only 4 month old the other 5 months. Its crazy how owners get dogs and act the way she does.

My dog was SO overprotective when I first got her. It died down after the first few months. She was about 3 and never had an owner before. She was also fearful and reactive towards other dogs. We brought home an emergency foster and about 2 months later her fear dissapaited and most of the reactivity went with it. She still needs training but time and patience did most of the trick. Cesars tips helped her growth tenfold tho.

Sometimes I think the only people who should try to have dogs are people with no lives and are willing to be 2nd to an animal . I like dogs a lot but idk I go back and forth, people exaggerate the benefits. Just so they could get a dog that they can pet. But can’t have a deep convo with or do everything with, who is highly dependent on you to do everything for them , the benefit is that you just want a furry thing to pet that sometimes wants to cuddle? Idk. If dogs weren’t so high maintenance I’d get it but often they are just off to the side , needing you to constantly medicate it at a vet and buying it tons of toys and taking it out just to watch IT run. I don’t get why people act like that is so amazing. I think some people are just incredibly bored and have no goals outside of work . Dogs can be cuddly every now and then sure, but that’s basically the only benefit, if you hang around anything or anyone long enough and take care of them devotedly you will develop a soft spot for them. But there are a lot of requirements with just about one benefit that gets dramatically romanticized
@rs5570

Absolutely correct. Problems are almost ALWAYS because of the owner. And I don’t like using the term “owner.” We are caregivers and family members to dogs & cats, just like children. No different. If you think it’s different than caring for a child - please, please do not get a dog. Ever.

I would submit that a young of her size and weight is not a good match for a largerish dog. I suspect she treated this dog as a person and needs to be educated on pack behavior, prior to choosing a dog like this. That said, the die is cast when she brings the dog home for the first time. As a result this dog naturally protected his owner. Her body language and energy caused her stable dog to escalate the stable dog. Caesar recognizes the dogs aren’t’ the problem here, so he educated the owner in his way by showing her she was the problem. Another case of rehabilitating the owner, and not the dog. and I concur that characteristics shown here, translate well into human behavior. Outstanding, Semper Fi

But who knows, if the guard dog and the owner have a high trusty bond. Cesar might not make it out, hehe, just a joke. Cesar Milan the goat of dogs behavior and to correct yourself to handle the dog. Awesome observation! A few years ago, I got my first dog (finally lol) that was not a family dog, rescue dog; a dog I purposefully got to have as a companion. She was so timid and fearful, and I had to learn how to work with that as I had never had this experience with a puppy. She was the runt of the litter and born this way. I ended up becoming calmer and stronger for her, to be what SHE needs. In so doing, that spread to other areas of my life. I was not able to apply these things without my dog- so the phrase Cesar says that we get the dog we need is so true. If you are able to apply these things on your own, that is so inspirational to me.

Respect for her being able to put herself out there like this. She obviously cares about the dog, but it does not seem like shes fit to be an owner of a dog yet. She needs to focus on her own healing first. Love how Cesar trains both human and animal.

Actually dogs are terribly good at helping people heal. That is why they use them in hospitals and old age homes. That dog is a chow in a retriever shaped body. If you know anything about chows then you know that they are stubborn, training resistant, territorial, and dog aggressive. They do not respond well to the same type of training that you would use for - let's say a retriever/labrador/spaniel - think more Akita/shiba inu mentality. A dog from the first group would have been very good for her - but the dog is from the latter group and needs an experienced owner. She absolutely cares about her dog, but she came to the wrong person for help.

Her anxiety does not mesh well with Leons personality, therefore she adopted the wrong dog. Really curious as to whom you believe she should have gone to for help regarding this situation?

@@D0MIN0W4LKER Well being an unenlightened ageist isn't smooth or very nice either. Overdose deaths have done nothing but increase since the '70s. Last year was an all-time high with 93,000 dead from ODing in the US alone. Nothing like this was heard of in the 70s, not a common thing whatsoever. Sorry if you didn't enjoy that decade where there was seriously more freedom, kinder people and waaay less crimes against each other.

This is exactly my dog! I’ve only had my dog since February after my husbands passing. My dog is so aggressive towards other dogs it’s frightening. She’s otherwise the sweetest dog ever. This was really helpful, if only it could be this easy to change her behavior…..and both our anxiety. I’m terrified to walk her sometimes.

GoogIe the phrase above. My dog was very similar to yours and now she's 100% calm. You'll be truly amazed at how establishing leadership completely transforms your dog. It's the very best thing you can do if your dog shows any signs of aggression.

The litter owner I got my Mika from wouldn't even let people choose or take a pup until they were a full 3 months old. The pups being mostly Husky with 1/8 timberwolf and 1/8 Malamute, he was brutally choosy about who they went to. (I had 5 Malamutes prior to my current dog.) The pups spent that time with both parents, 5 littermates, and two year- old dogs from the first litter. They learned how to be a dog, to be around other dogs, pack/status thoroughly before they left. I think it's made a huge difference in his level of socialization. People do what they must but I think pups are often taken from the parent way too soon and it has an influence on how they act/react around other canines. Huskies are great watch dogs in terms of letting you know who and what is around but they aren't aggressive guard dogs.

Don't be terrified just remember that you are in full control of what your dog does. My dog has a leash agression problem wich has gotten a lot better in the past 2 years. I just learned to remain more calm passing by other dogs and stop expecting her to lash out. And if she lashes out i know that if i get her attention fast enaugh and tell her to stop she will do it imidiatly. As stupid as it might sound you have to make it clear that you are the boss and you decide if your dog should lash out or not. Be confident!

I recently saw the episode about that Lab (Holly) that Leon kept attacking. Ironically, SHE was overly aggressive, and that was the first time I’ve ever seen Cesar NOT return someone’s pet back to them; he couldn’t, bcuz she was just too dangerous to be around the family that owned her. But look at the Change in her in This episode… amazing! Poor thing passed away last year, tho. 🥺
