My family rented a storage locker in 2018 after my mother-in-law passed away. We stored all her stuff while my wife took care of selling her house. We had everything packed neatly and in order of what room the stuff came from. After we were done packing the locker with 3 bedrooms of stuff, we locked it and didn't come back until we were ready to sort everything to see what was being kept or sold. was almost a year and a half later. Now my wife took photos before we left because it looked like A Tetris screen lol. When we opened the locker rolling door up, We were shocked at what we saw. Not only were almost all the boxes dumped out, but the things we put in first" in the back" was in the front. The manager said no way that could happen unless someone broke into it and the place has never been broken into in almost 5 years. We called the police because stuff was missing and they found out the manager has never turned on the cameras around the store. Long story short, almost every person that had rented there had the same problem. Remember those sliding locks can be opened by any worker at a storage unit. I will never use one again. But the manager was fired by the owner later

As a manager/owner we've had to move things around in order to close the door after taking pictures. Sometimes it's a wonder we can open the door at all the unit is so full.

I had to walk away from a unit about 2 months ago. There were pictures taken of 2 different units posted on 1 listing. Of course, I was left with the nasty unit.

Those storage locker auctions are nothing but a big scam.

I would suspect the storage owners to look through the unit to take out the high dollar stuff and shank the bidders on the so so leftovers.

You have a generous thought on what happened to the locker, but it looks like you will have a lot of inventory despite that. I’d be leery about this place though.

I could do the scrap metal hunting but the storage units would be too hard because of the deeply personal nature of going through other people's stuff. Most people who lose their units are already in a terrible spot and this just twist the knife. Don't get me wrong someone's gotta do it and you have to make a living. It's not morally wrong or anything. I just couldn't do it myself. That being said , I will continue to follow you so keep up the good hard work.

I sell mostly clothes on eBay as well as media, we have gotten REALLY good clothing brands from the store and your auction....I'm glad you don't leave that money on the table. This was a pretty good unit for sure!

I froze the comparison and this auction was definitely tampered with. Stuff is rearraigned all the way back in the photos. I doubt you will find any good surprises now.

but who took the stuff? the renter of the storage unit? or the owner of the storage unit? I think that would be some violations of auction type laws. Double dippin' on owner's part.....maybe these laws differ from state to state.

I just do the look 👀, smell 👃, taste test. Remembering how canning was the date the items were canned….and not the use by or else date.
