Storm Kathleen waves swamp unwisely parked car in dramatic scenes

Dramatic footage shows Storm Kathleen battering a Cornish town yesterday and an unwisely parked car being swamped by waves threatening to carry it into the harbour. The video was taken on Saturday afternoon, April 6, outside the Ship Inn pub, in Porthleven, and shows huge waves crashing into the harbour as onlookers can be heard screaming.
A red car can be seen parked on the harbourfront and is almost swept away by the water. Patrick Aston, who captured the dramatic footage at high tide yesterday, said that, while the car luckily didn't end up in the harbour, it was lifted closer to the edge a few times by the force of the water.
The dramatic scenes came amid heavy wind and rain brought on by Storm Kathleen which battered Devon and Cornwall until around 10pm yesterday. The counties faced winds between 50 and 70mph and warnings were issued that they could pose a threat to life.

To cover the fact that "news" nowadays is someone's terrible camera phone footage accompanied by about 20 lines of obvious text scrolling annoyingly slowly. If you have no sound at all (and often you won't want to play the original audio), it really draws attention to how unprofessional it looks and people might start thinking "hmmm didn't the news used to have journalists and reporters? What happened there cough the internet cough death of print media, birth of pay by click, race to the bottom, access media Rupert bloody Murdoch and everyone shops at Amazon now but also wonders why the high Street died must be immigrants this is how we got brexit" ... so they stick some dumb stock ambiance music over it instead.

That is the first time that I have seen a car, pummelled by waves, yet standing in the same position. In other videos, I have seen cars carried across car parks into each other with far less force of water.

I live in the Northeast of England where my house, right on top of cliffs, overlooks the North Sea. It is normal in winter and early spring to see the sea like this.

Those are not huge waves. You need to travel more if you think they are huge. And trying to make it more dramatic by using annoying music. Doesn't work.

Exactly. I live in the Northeast of England. My house is situated on top of cliffs overlooking the North Sea. This is normal for this time of year and in winter. I’m freaking sick to the back teeth of this weather propaganda.

😂 that wasn’t what we were cheering and laughing at! 🙄. Search KZfaq for this “Storm Kathleen Swell Washes Onto Cornwall Harbour Pub” and you’ll see what we are actually cheering and laughing at! There’s a pub there and when a sou’westerly wind blows a storm in the waves crash 30/40 ft up the cliff and down the road. When it’s a real big storm they even hit the roof… that’s why it’s a bit of fun! 😂
