I remember my first blizzard when I lived in Maine - Nemo. Had to stay at work that night...but even the next night, driving home, it was still bad. It felt like I was on Star Trek driving in warp speed with the way the snow was coming at my windshield in the dark...even though I was snailing it all the 65 miles home. It's just not worth it to drive in those conditions.

It always surprises me when someone passes me in a blizzard, even in white-out conditions.

catalot a truck usually have good visibility and needs some speed to retain traction. Visibility get radically better with the distance between your line of sight and the headlight position (vertical distance)

As a kid, 20 something, I use to seek out these conditions. Last time I did that it became a true white out. Could not see my own headlights or the end of the hood. Scared the Sh@t out of me. Never again. I still seek out snow, just in the mountains and on little traveled roads. You know the type, only where a jeep can make it.

2:50 - sounds crazy but I've been in snow this heavy a few times and it helps to kill the head lights and run with the parking lights on.

I just drive with my fog lights on. I used to live in Southern California and the fog would get thick enough to cut, you could play hide and seek in it. It's the same principal water molecules bouncing light back at you.

@1:25 was that his car or another person because i live in this area and the worst thing to do is to sit on the road and wait it out given the wind direction once these events start they dont stop for sometimes days and the longer you wait on the side of the road the more the road becomes snow covered and impassable especially if your on a backroad or they will not plow the back roads until the main thoroughfares are taken care of ive helped many people out from being stranded due to trying to wait it out there car becomes buried some of these roads can have upwards of 2-5 feet on them before the plow will come through they take care of 81 route 3 104 17 13 12 126 781 178 and 11 are the roads that come first

He33 that ain't much more than normal snow storm -- you can see past the length of the hood so normal winter. When you have to drive on the rumble strips that when you know it might be getting bad. 45 years of that and now in the SW desert -- SO NICE!

If you would taken a right and went up 177 about 6 to 8 miles it'd have been a lot worse. It goes up in elevation quite a bit from where you are in the first part of the video

Not really the most snow falls in land from the lake in the depths of the tug hill though snowiest location in the eastern usa is on the peninsula of Lake Superior where lake effect snow happens regardless of wind direction
