POC aren’t getting into top universities at the same rates as white people are because of systemic racism and all the hurdles that POC have to jump over that white people just don’t have usually. if you come from a poor area with constant stress vs a comfortable life who do you think is going to have more capacity to do well in school. I hope you learn something here today because damn

@@galwaygirl8131 at the end of the day we can’t ignore recent history just to please you it’s true and that’s a lot of peoples experiences. It was only with the us civil rights movement black folks were regarded as lesser men - do you think people suddenly dropped those beliefs?

@@trevormcdonald385 I am also half irish and I don't see many Irish who live in the UK as I do going around blaming British people for basically enslaving them and murdering their ancestors. Obviously there are irish people who do have that attitude I know some personally. But they don't victimise themselves they make opportunities here in the UK and it pushes them harder. I feel like so many people who hold these grudges want someone to blame. My best friend here in London was raised by her white side of the family because her dad who is black didn't want to see her. Can you imagine if she went around saying she felt un valued by the black community because her black father didn't value her. That would be a awful attitude Basically it's harder to hold on to the grudge. You should let it empower you. Both of my parents ancestors were treated like shit but do I go around hating British or white people NO! Because that is being a victim.
@trevormcdonald385
@trevormcdonald385 Жыл бұрын
@@galwaygirl8131 respectfully she did not say she felt undervalued by the “white community”. And I do agree many people do themselves a disservice with the victimisation attitude but the thing is, it’s partly due to societal conditioning by bleeding heart liberals too. It’s not like every black person has this woe is me attitude. For example you will it lacking in the older generation if it was truly victimisation you’d expect them to have it more not the younger generation. Also I don’t think you can compare the black struggle to the Irish one even though the British did terrible things to the Irish. We are not just talking about slavery here we are talking about a time when it was an accepted attitude that black people were less than human - many people still cling to those beliefs.

Do some of you people hear yourself ?? The word “woke” has been used in the black community for decades! As a matter of fact I was around 10 years old when I heard a Rastafarian elder use that word complaining about teens listening to certain music on loudspeaker (this was a thing back in the day) but I will never forget what he said because he’s voice was like thunder! The west loves stealing words and manipulating them! I just LOL when I see this generation use ‘woke’ Willy nilly without an ounce of common sense to let you know that it is a metaphor.
