Thank You for this. I just bought the bundle minus the CD's. I bought it from Amazon. Also thanks for the insight on your boys having something in their hands which helps them to listen better. I usually tell my son to but everything away. I will start homeschooling for the upcoming school year 23-24. Thanks so much for this video.

This is what we're wanting to use for history with the 3rd grader. We have a couple of the actual "Story of the World" volumes already, but not the activity books and the tests yet, haven't been able to source those locally, so I've been wanting to wait on starting till I was able to get the rest of the books.
@LittlePodschool
@LittlePodschool 4 жыл бұрын
That's awesome you were able to find some of the books! Would we be able to help you get your hands on an activity book or test book? Can we ship to you? Not sure how that all works, but I would be happy to help in any way I can!

@@LittlePodschool Aww, thank you so much! Basically, where we live, any internationally-shipped packages tend to be a little problematic with getting stopped at customs, not delivered, returned, etc...and it's even worse right now with any internationally shipped packages because of all the effects of the virus. So, our usual method of acquiring homeschool supplies is to keep tabs on anyone with plans to travel to our corner of the world and a little extra suitcase space for some books, then we order and have books sent to their house in America. That way, our books actually arrive, eventually. I've actually already ordered a few things that are now sitting in my sister's house in Michigan because she was supposed to come in May! :( Oh well...someday travel will be possible, and it's not like we have NO history resources, haha! But I do think this curriculum will be a better option than the old Abeka history I've been using with her.

Would you use the added encyclopedia for all the chapters or do you need more companion books to add in every chapter?

Do you need to join a charter school online for the funds?? I’m not sure I can take that on.

I am not a HS mama but a mom that is wanting to teach my kids about the Bible. We do story time every night. Our story time is basically what would be considered circle time” I go over character behavior, read a short story and chapter out of a chapter book , and read a Bible story, then prayer time. I absolutely do this every night because this is a way for me to connect with my kiddos. I have four children ages 2-8. My older kiddos have been asking me lots of questions about god. They also want more about god then our “Jesus storytime book” so I am on the search. Everything I have found is homeschool stuff. I would love to HS but my husband isn’t on board. I am trying to see how this would work during our storytime without being to much. I am a simple simple person as I easily get overwhelmed.

Usborne sell all their books on their website, also amazon and most bookstores and libraries have usborne books so you may be able to find it from those places :)

Thank you, this looks a great curriculum? Is there more hands on stuff than just a colouring sheet and a map to colour though? And would you say, it’s biased towards religion and the states, we are in the UK? X
@maisieliberty1319
@maisieliberty1319 3 жыл бұрын
Hi I'm from UK too, as far as I know it's world history so not just us history. The religion is added not as a Bible component but as history events and what people believed at the time so it is maybe one of the most adaptable in terms of removing religion but in UK schools world religion is on the national curriculum as it's good to know what people believe and many of these events are accepted by even secular historians as events that happened due to the evidence that exists for them so I wouldn't be opposed to including however it is in there ans if you want one with very little to no religion mentioned this wouldn't be for you. The second volume, medieval ages, covers British history, English kings and queens and the 100 year war, so there is some British history covered in some chapters due to it being world history curriculum. Hope this helps :)

Hello, I have a question for you about this curriculum "Story of the World". Our curriculum is quite heavy already but I am looking into adding a curriculum for ancient history. I have talked to a few people who have mentioned that the activity book might not be necessary. I plan to get the reader book only. Is it necessary to get the activity book?
@LittlePodschool
@LittlePodschool 2 жыл бұрын
SOTW works differently for every family. You could totally do it as a read-aloud and omit the activity book. We really love it though!

This might be a really stupid comment but how do you get it to play on your Alexa? Can you buy it in an app shop?
@LittlePodschool
@LittlePodschool 4 жыл бұрын
No stupid questions here! I’m a total rookie, this is a safe space. 😆 I am not sure if this breaks any copyright laws, but I save the CD’s (which I own) onto my desktop’s iTunes app. Then, I connect to Alexa via iTunes home sharing. Save it as a playlist and go! Hope that helps!

Do you think this would be good for a 6yr old/1st grader and two younger ones? Or should I wait a year?
@LittlePodschool
@LittlePodschool 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely!! My six year old and spit out more info about ancient history than most adults. You can modify to your specific needs. Maybe just do the reading and color sheets and map. No need for the extra literature, tests, and projects at that age... unless you really want to!

How long does each volume supposed to last if one followed the lesson plans?
@maisieliberty1319
@maisieliberty1319 3 жыл бұрын
I believe they are meant to last a year, so volume 1 is for a year, after four years you repeat them, with your kids being older and therefore learning same time period but doing different activities related to the theme. They could probably be stretched out to last longer or done quicker by adjusting the schedule, i.e doing lessons more or less often in the week. :)

This is not a truly Secular curriculum, the author is christian and it shows through in her righting - for Secular and non christian home educators History Quest, and History Odyssey are a much better fit than this one.

Writing** and yes, it's partially secular, partially Christian. There are many from both "camps" that use it.
