I've been in a padded room, like, one of the actual padded rooms. Made with pure pillows, and after hours of begging the guards to let me have a roommate, they got annoyed and agreed to make me shut up. They forgot about it, after like 20 hours. They rushed to check on us, thinking we were hurting each other, the found us boosting each other up to touch the roof and bounce back up from the pillow made bouncy castle, good times.

I’m in America, I was sent to a mental hospital against my will, staff were rude, we felt like we were mutts. The staff didn’t treat us with any respect. I was forced to take meds that made ,y stomach hurt. Even after the mental hospital I had to take them because my mom wouldn’t let me stop taking them. I got no help for my mental health, I faked it till I acted happy bc i was so scared with going back.

I've been a mental ward, involuntary, 7+ years strait, residential. Padded rooms do exist, I've been in them personally. The amount of "crazy" people depends but yeah, it's often just a bunch of normal people that society deemed them to be unacceptable in some way, especially if involuntary. Yeah the amount of fucking overdosing and forced medication. Yeah, the amount of staff I've come across that seemed in for the money. I personally felt more unsafe in there than I did outside at the time as a kid.

This is such a bitter-sweet Video, your partner and others in your life are so supportive, but I can't imagine the experience in there being great, even with the good memories. Loving the Videos and well done to you for being brave enough to share these :D

I admitted myself to a psych ward once as an adult, almost a year ago now. And while I can say I think I'm doing better now, it was not a positive experience in the least bit. In fact the only positive was how I was allowed to have my own room since I am transgender, but only because for some reason that meant I could be a potential threat... I suppose me being in there did save my life though so that is a second positive. I found out when I got out though that I was fired from my job for no call no showing despite having told my direct supervisor I was going in.

Lmao I relate to cape man so much. When I'm depressed and kinda dissociated and shit, consequences font feel real and I don't give a shit anyways, I just get so focused on what I want. So running off just to get some DQ... yeah mood bro. That and always having a blanket on; ideal state of existence, always cozy.

I was inpatient for about two weeks I think(that time in my life is such a blur) it was about 5 years ago. I was in the military and newly married. When I broke down I was so ashamed of myself I felt like I had let everyone down and I ruined my career. My husband visited me every single day and as did my mom. I appreciate psych wards because if I wasn’t able to reach out for help I don’t think I would be here today. The people I met were very nice, a few were mean but it’s understandable. I remember this one guy I was there with he gave me a fidget cube and told me that as long as I kept going everything works itself out, I hope he’s doing ok.

It's odd that Canadian psych wards have the issue of there being too few beds and as fast of a discharge as possible, since American wards have the opposite problem a good chunk of the time! They get more money the longer you stay there (especially if your stay is being funded by family members), so they tend to be very prone to forcing patients to overstay. It's a lot like our gunked-up prison systems, actually! The higher capacity for residents who stay longer, the more money that can be made. At least that's what I've gathered, I'm not exactly that much of an expert!

My old school had a padded room it was called the blue room, its purpose was for kid with anger issues and was nonspecificaly specifically for me bc I was the only one in the school who had the "privilege" of being in it

Other than the abusive and dehumanizing parts at the beginning of the video the rest of the stories are super wholesome and sweet, I’ve got tears in my eyes thinking about how lived you must have felt in such a low point of your life and it’s honestly beautiful

One of my friends was sent to a psych ward by their mom because they were caught smoking weed and I can't imagine why a psych ward would accept that as a reason??? Weed is legal where we live- not for him because he was a minor- but I can't imagine sending a teen to a psych ward for that.

My only expirience with Psych wards was this one person, who also liked Vocaloids back in 2012. And the person was wearing Kagamine Rin and Len t-shirt while i had hatsune Miku t-shirt (Note back in 2010, vocaloids were basically unknown back then lol) And another one was with this dude, who wasn't there for too long but he was honestly really nice. We did end up in same hospital school a year or 2 later and he taught me how to play drums (well the basics only, but it was really nice of him. )

Wow I’m American, but basically in the ward I was in, you were not allowed to leave for anything - no guests, no outside time, only 30minutes on the “pay phone” style phone on the wall a day. It was jail basically. Idk I get kind of upset hearing other countries mental healthcare options.

I'm glad you're comfortable to talk about this. It's important to talk about stuff like this. It's unfortunate that some people stereotype psych ward patients even when videos like this exist, that disprove it all.

Hi! I’ve been binging your channel for a good week or two now, love your videos bunches! This video really does hit home for me a bit, not in a necessarily bad way! But I’ve been in and out of rehab over 5 times, my first time being when I was 12 and my last being when I was 16/17, I won’t say why but it was always… An interesting experience. So many stories and all, both scary ones and fun-ish kinda ones, but nonetheless it was indeed an experience. I don’t want this to come off wrong, but I’m really glad I found your channel, I haven’t ever had any storytime/art channels I could fully really relate to on a personal level such as yours, so it means a lot to me. 😅 One thing I kinda wanna add here, just something that bugs me about people who misinterpret or act like they know all about rehabs/psyche wards, I have an ex friend who was.. a rather not so nice friend to say the least. She was a lot of things, but in all relative purposes, she likes to latch onto topics and act as if she understands it and can be a “As somebody that/who” person. Recently, I was told by a close friend she made a tweet online trying to inform everyone about rehab/psyche wards and how great they are and how you NEED to go to one if you’re struggling because it’ll help you. For one… Not everyone will benefit from these. Some, including myself, have rather traumatic experiences from them, wether it be by irresponsible hospital staff or personal/mental issues that may be going on with them either mentally or physically. It all just depends in my book. What aggravates me the most is that she mentioned how she was in rehab once before, but not for long. This.. Aggravated me because I was there when she had to get evaluated. She was there for a few hours, I was there with her sister at that time having a sleepover with her before she had to be taken that night. They came back early in the morning with her, she was never in rehab. She was only evaluated, seeing if she needed it. She came home because they decided she was fine. I know she tells people that story as if she was actually *in* rehab when she actually was not, and hearing and seeing that she gave advice for people with mental issues that she does not have really stung me. I’ve been IN rehab over 5 different times and it was not helpful for me at all. It was just torture for me, shitty hospital staff and the scary other teens my age who threatened to hurt me. I have very few nice memories of any moment in any of the hospitals I was put in, so seeing a person giving advice about something they never went through and claiming they did when they didn’t, it honestly hurt a lot. The friend is obviously out of my life now, so that’s always good. Anyways, sorry for the rant/ramble, I just wanted to sorta share a personal experience of mine and pet peeve, while also letting you know how happy I am to find your channel. I hope you’re doing alright and staying safe Celestia, keep doing what you’re doing!

Would you say that psychiatric wards are moral?
@DuchessCelestia
@DuchessCelestia 2 жыл бұрын
i believe that the concept of psych wards is moral and valuable, but that the behaviour and corruption of so many of their staff is absolutely immoral. psych ward staff need to be held to a much higher standard of scrutiny and responsibility than they currently are for me to believe that the wards are moral in practice and not just theory
