This is really similar to when Eric lost a cool million to Antonius. Ryan lost this hand and all his money entirely due to the fact that he talked about being in profit/loss 'after this hand'. He brought it to the tables attention, and felt the pressure to win the hand no matter what. Much like when Eric showed his cards to Robl at the start of that hand, he was under pressure to perform and bluff no matter what happened.
