I just love how specific this video is; I am from Dallas Fort-Worth as well and I am with Ghanaian man and when I tell you meeting that man has helped me find my identity so much! For us to be over 6K miles away from Ghana it sure does feel like home. Being born and raised in the US as a black person is like being born in a orphanage. No roots, no proper values, culture or history to cling to. So I totally feel yall on this and I hope one day we can return our entire family back to Ghana and invest in industrialism to make not only a great country but a great continent. All Hail Mother Africa!!

As an African, I appreciate all of you my brothers and sisters who are able to come to the motherland and use your skills and experience to build us up as a people. You're not only bettering your families but all of us. When we see you doing great things and changing lives, we know that it is not easy, we aspire and are inspired to be the best versions of ourselves by your examples. Unfortunately crime, thugs and corruption is universal and we have it here and we too suffer from it. Let not the bad potatoes destroy or discourage you. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Together, Let's Make Africa Great

Hi Tim, I think your guests might have misunderstood something. When people call you Ogboni, it is mostly figurative, it is not literal. Nigerians call other Nigerians Oyinbo all the time (which means the same as Ogboni). It just means you act culturally like a foreigner, not necessarily because you are one. Also, in many African countries, there are no standard prices. People except you to price everything. I hope you don’t feel people see you any different because you are from somewhere else.

It’s sad that blacks in America live in fear of the police. I could see the joy in the brother’s face when he recounted the interactions with the Ghanaian police and military.

The 13th Amendment practically allows slave labor ($0.50/hr). This is a freebie for US corporations and publicly traded prison systems for profit, thus resulting in the largest prison population of any country on earth. Many of which are non-violent criminals. So part of the police function is to fill up prisons. Outside of the US, the police could care less about you as they are focused on violent crime and they don't have prisons for profit.

It’s so true our police in 🇬🇭will charge if you break the law but they aren’t like the racist police in U.K. and America that tasers our people to death as well as shoot them to death. Using the thuggery force physically against our people and unjustly stop and search our people remorselessly. You never get that with our police in 🇬🇭and our mama land as whole.

They don’t call you obroni cause you are a foreigner it’s because of your accent and they do it to even Ghanaians also once you come from the white mans country, you definitely obroni to them. White people are always rich to them so once you coming from the white mans country, you are definitely rich and they do it to everyone including Ghanaians coming from abroad.

Facts. Not rich but living abroad. I got called obroni too, especially when my Twi wasn't as good. Now that I speak a local language with fluency, I get called obroni less then before. But whenever I go to the market, I don't speak to prevent people overcharging due to my accent

Ghana is attracting the movers & shakers, entrepreneurs & creatives the same way Atlanta, Charlotte, Miami & Dallas did 25yrs ago. Most people who could leave the north already did. Cities like Chicago, Detroit, Philly, New York don't have the same nightlife, energy and pizazz that they did 25yrs ago. As the entrepreneurs create more & more business, less local people will seek jobs abroad.

Ghana is doing well, they are building and reorganising their country to measure up to the standards of 21st century and that's why you see lots of people of African decent moving there from the diaspora. That said, there's one big neighbour in that West African region that supposed to be in the lead for all these unfortunately they failed big time. Well done Ghana.

Tim swain. I really love this interview here, I use to get upset sometimes when you talk about these ugly side of Ghana but heyyy, who doesn’t have an ugly side? I realize that it’s actually a good thing to talk about those things hopefully it will actually brings a change that we all would want some day. I always think that Ghana will look like Europe in a near future and us going over there and living there, making few simple changes will help in a long way, I read how African Americans were push into the desert of Oklahoma back in the day with nothing to even make anything possible but they came from nothing to Hero in a short amount of time and white peoples got jealous and killed and destroy everything, the story they celebrated in Ghana only a year ago so if our ancestors survive in those day we can also not survive in Ghana , we can rebuild Ghana or any part of Africa, all we need is a strong organization that will help each other . I strongly believe that we will build Africa better than Europe or Any first world country. God willing I will make my on transition very soon, God bless you and your family, please keep on a good work.

@@gb6041 Ii understand but most people that go to Africa lived in populated cities in the US and never really traveled. When I was a kid I went to stay with family in Mississippi for the entire summer. They lived in a 14 room 6 bathroom 3 story house miles away from neighbors , my family owned the house . Nearby was a lake and we caught fish , we picked wild corn , picked collar greens , pairs , peaches, lemons and made lemonade . We could make an entire meal off of the land there were endless pecans trees . We went into town and the population was below 2,000 90% black and everyone owned their homes . People speak about America from their own experiences when they haven’t been everywhere lol it takes 16 hours to drive across Texas alone and that is one state . Every state is like it’s own country with different laws , landscape and quality of life .

Remember their ancestors were taken from West Africa especially Ghana more then four hundred years ago so off course They look Ghanaian. I am still surprised that the education system in Africa and Ghana in particular does not teach about the slave trade done by the missionaries 😢😢😢..How do Ghanaian managed to buried that tragic historical event like it never happened.. The Jewish never forgot their dark history because they teach their children. Africans need to do better...

Hi beautiful people, best of luck to you! I was born in Ghana, had the opportunity to leave to USA in 1979 and wouldn't go back to stay in Ghana more than 2weeks. My advice for you is to be vigilant, Ghanaians are noted to be thieves due to their destitute, even your cleaning lady would be waiting for the day to steal your stuff, don't trust 100%. Best of luck!

Please the Obroni thing don’t take it to heart. I think that you guys are getting the Obroni thing all wrong. Obroni for them is English not a white person as you guys have been told. The fact that you’re speaking English and that’s the only language for you that’s why they’ll say Obroni. It doesn’t mean that you’re white. It’s a language barrier that is causing the confusion. They clearly see you’re not white.
