Yeah, Thorsten Homan has said it's a better practice game than a competitive game. I'll tell who what though, you get good at straight pool and you're automatically a threat at any game on a pool table.

@@fredhugard7444 I use to play, travel and hustle pool. Vernon Elliott was a great one pocket player who also played straight pool and bank pool. He could beat most players of his time in 9 ball, so you must be right. I never played one pocket, straight pool for any money. However, I love the FAST game of 9 ball. Vernon would make players bet so high and never gave his name. Very few knew him, but word gets around. Thanks for you input. At my age, if I played again, I would have to learn one pocket. My eyes are bad and my endurance is not good at all. I truly people play better today than they use to. In fact I've been quit since 1992, only to pick a pool cue up a few times since then. @@alydar21 I mean, where's the action, a 9 ball game between two fast players last an average of 3 minutes. That means every 3 minutes if you're playing for a 1-- bucks a game your exchanging money. 200 dollar difference in your pocket from 2 -5 minutes, now that's action. You are right, this takes discipline and I would have to be a ton of money to play. Not for me!

Same here. I'm usually a 9 ball guy but I watch this for positioning tips and strategies.

14.1 Continuous is possibly the best pocket billiard game to learn all the rest of the games (debate can be also for Rotation, as well).

He always knew he was extremely left eye dominant. his right handed shooting positions lead to neck/shoulder problems thats why he switched to left handed.

They had much looser pockets and slower cloth in Mosconi's day, a tad easier to say the least. My humble opinion as to why they could be much quicker.

@@greganderson8985 you're right about looser pockets and i agree they make shooting easier, however, slow cloth, less reactive balls and slow cushions all make straight pool runs MUCH tougher. also, those players were on their own. nowadays you can get excellent help and tips on every level of the game from you tube alone.... like most sports/games it's a slippery slope to compare across generations.
