Stranded Driver Couldn’t Believe The Tow Bill! 😳

While on vacation, this couple got their Mini Cooper stranded on a rock in some deep silt after some bad directions from Google Maps sent them down a forest service road. So I took my ‪@Jeep‬ TJ-6 up to get them pulled out. Being a Mini Cooper, I thought it was going to a be a very easy and light pull, but I was very wrong. So I got out my ‪@YankumRopes‬ Recovery Rings and redirected off of a tree to pull the car forward and up off the rock with the ‪@harborfreight‬ Badlands Winch. The car came right out with no damage, and the best part of the whole job came at the end when he asked how much the bill was!

I think the best part, besides the gentleman holding the umbrella for his lady, was both of them helping pick up all the gear. Very cool that they got out of the city for some vacation, and didn't have it spoiled by a bill. And I'm pretty sure they'll pay it forward. You're a good man, Casey. Don't ever change.

@@michaeld53I agree with not coddling people for the most part, but if I'm paying a tow truck a pretty hefty chunk of change, and having to wait hours for them to get to me, I've already reached the conclusion I made a dumb decision, the last thing I need is for someone else I'm paying money to telling me the same thing over again.

It breaks my heart that we are now living in a world where good people feel hesitation and disbelief when another person blesses them with something simply out of kindness and compassion. I mean, when you call a company for a service, it's perfectly normal to expect to pay them as compensation. You don't expect a lawn mowing company to mow your yard for free do you?

I think that's just you. Because I felt as if he simply couldn't believe he got a free service from a company he called out for. I don't think there was ever a time where somebody called for a tow service and believed it was free without hesitation. He paused to think of a way of paying him, to deny his free service, not figuring out Casey's scheme.

As someone who is called when things go bad, it makes sense that some tools, like traction boards, will be near useless by the time someone needs your help. That said, traction boards often give the normal off roader that little bit they need so that they don't need to call in someone like you.

Good recovery. Also, good to see them out there wanting to enjoy the back country roads. It did appear though the road was more hard packed when they started, and those dirt-covered rocks have a way of creating up on you. They seemed like a nice couple and probably very glad you were there to assist. Nice job!
