I always loved John Densmore's drumming.

This recording is truly a rare gem. A TIME CAPSULE with unlimited value. This is THE DOORS before they were famous. This is The Doors before they were at The Whiskey A GO GO and still honing and perfecting their skills. This is The Doors before they knew how big they would become. Jim sounds GREAT! They all sound great. The band sounds really tight and ready for fame. For us to be able to hear this performance live all these years later, what a treat! It's like we are right there with Jim and THE DOORS as they are on the verge of fame. This is probably how they sounded as they practiced and rehearsed on Venice Beach, writing songs and such.

London Fog 1966 is a live album by the American rock band the Doors, released on December 16, 2016 by Rhino Records. It contains a previously unreleased live performance at the London Fog in Los Angeles in May 1966. It was recorded by spectator Nettie Pena before the band released their highly successful debut album on January 4, 1967. Considered the earliest known live recording of the Doors, London Fog 1966 includes versions of eventual album tracks and covers of blues standards.

I read somewhere there were usually only a dozen people at these gigs.

Cara, que versão maravilhosa!!!!!! Jim com o chocalho de fundo, John arrebentando na bateria e Manzarek arrasando como sempre, uma fusão dessas não tinha como ficar ruim. E pensem, um sonzão desses em 1966, musicalmente falando eles estavam muito a frente do tempo deles. Obrigada Doors por terem existido!

On earbuds, the live drum sound in this raw recording in 1966 just gives me chills. I mean you can’t even HEAR the guitar it’s just voice, organ and drums. This is way before the actual album recording came out. There are a few rolls but the drum dynamics around Jim’s voice. I guess someone had a reel to reel tape machine as the vocals would have been warbled on cassette tape in 1966.
