Ok, people say these two fell in love way too fast; but all the stuff Bog does for her in this scene; catching her when she falls even though she can fly, helping her get through the thorns when she’s uneasy about it and giving her a flower without expecting anything in return, is probably why Marianne falls for him so fast. I get the feeling Roland wouldn’t have done any of that.
@bookwormgamer39243 жыл бұрын
Nah Roland was basically a narcissistic power hungry guy. Loved two thing's his looks and the idea of being a king with his own army.
@ava12163 жыл бұрын
Nah, lol, Roland would’ve complained about how going through the horns ruined his hair, catching her slowed him down, and getting a flower was unnecessary

This to me is the highlight of the entire movie, and I’m so impressed that they chose to make the romantic scene in the dark forest and take moments to appreciate the beauty within that world instead of retreating to the flowers and bright colors of the rest of the movie.

One of my favorite parts of this scene. So much so that when I created a Strange Magic fanfic, which continues where the movie leaves off, Bog carries Marianne on a regular basis. It's a thing she likes to have him do :). I guess it struck a chord with me as it is akin to holding hands. A moment of intimate bonding.

It’s surprising because Bog always sung intense hard songs before this, but it turns out he can sing heart felt songs too. Kinda makes the moment more impactful. This is most definitely the biggest highlight of the movie.

Also throughout the film I loved Marianne’s voice singing more rock & psychedelic songs than in the beginning of the film when she was singing the love song! Obviously we wanted to see our girl happy & feeling loved, but even in the beginning that song seemed off for her tone of voice. I loved her singing in everything after ‘Cant Help Falling In Love’, but she really shines here.

Did everyone miss the beginning of the movie where they made days pass without saying days had passed? Dawn says “whatever happened on that wedding day”. So realistically, they could’ve fallen in love slowly. Even if it was fast, it was executed beautifully. Sometimes falling in love fast happens.
@karinalarasart Жыл бұрын
It was fast but it’s ok. What I didn’t like is that the scene switched way to fast right after he gave her the flower. The whole drama of the war thing should have started the next day☀️
@amayajones68 Жыл бұрын
That’s one of the critiques I have about this movie. But it’s not regarding Bog and Marianne’s relationship. It’s about Marianne post Roland. The king approaches Marianne earlier in the film to convince her to find a new suitor, and he describes her as a “unique girl”. I wish that time had passed between her being cheated on by Roland, her forsaking men and romance, and adopting her new attitude. Because when she talks to Bog, she mentions that she keeps her guard up now. I would find that a bit more believable if we got to see more of who Marianne is since breaking up with Roland and if it had been awhile in between events, like a few months, a year or 2. But because this entire film occurs in a few days, it’s kind of rushed. I think Kat Stratford from 10 Things I Hate About You would be a good model. We meet Kat after her relationship with Joey has ended, we get to know the woman she has decided to be, and we get backstory on who she was prior to being the rebellious, outspoken Kat that we’ve come to know. It all felt natural is what I’m trying to get out. I still love this movie though.

i personally love this movie. its a personal favourite. the general " beauty and the beast " is brought to a new level and whole new meaning ( none of this is ment to shit on beauty and the beast this is just a compairison of the morals it shows ) in beauty and the beast it goes a similar direction. the princess is taken and falls in love with the beast for who he is on the inside. but THIS movie? this movie. its NEW and like water to a dying flower. making a brand new bloom never known before to the genera. in strange magic marianne is strong and builds herself up because she WAS the damsel in distress. and it fucked her over royally trusting in a douchebag to take care of her and him being ultimately the thing to crack her. she learned she cant let a man or any person be what holds her up and invested in her own life and herself. being the lovestricken princess wasint for her from the start and this let her stray from that path and find her own way. bog has his own land that like him is seen as ugly and unlovable. when they first meet they even have chemistry in their swordfight. that spark is almost immediately lit before the warmth shared in this song. bog showing the beauty in his land and in turn in him as well. he believes hes showing marianne the night and what exists there being beautiful to him. the glittering in her eyes looking at the spiderweb and how it glitters in the light of the moon and her looking back at him with that same glitter as shes looking at something she deems beautiful still, but hes showing her him and the beauty in him. to other people they both seem abbrasive but they bring out the gentle sides in eachother. and in the end? the thing that makes it be set apart from them all, if bog STAYS bog. he doesint turn into a conventionally handsome prince and lose what marianne loves about him personality wise because he has looks now and can have anything he wants now that hes back in power and able to interact with the world. he STAYS AS HIMSELF. he stays the man that marianne loves. dispite the opinions of her father or anyone else. she stays and is in love with HIM. ( and she literally kicks " prince charming " to the fucking curb which was AMAZING )
@Ginn313 ай бұрын
Took my sweet time to read all through. And YES to every sentence. If I literally put the movie under a microscope it's basically Beauty And The Beast with a slight twist. BUT. Different. Like, 2 artists drew the same portrait with different mediums. One drew in Ink, the other drew in watercolor. But really tho, I prefer how Bog just stays Bog in his original form of a different race from the Fae. Unlike in BATB, no hate, just compare. Marianne really fell in love with his personality. George Lucas approached the trope, kept the basics there but changed many elements and added extra good stuff. Haaaa. Honestly. Only as in late tweens and after figuring out about Life I truly 100℅ appreciate this movie than the time I saw it when it was released. But even then I never forgot about it. Only recently I rewatched, and yeah. I love it.

Bog gently fought her and gave her a worthy opponent to a sword fight, thing wich Roland wasn't able to do when he grabbed her near the end, also Bog understood and listened to her more than Roland ever did, prevented her from falling, helped her passing through the dark forest, showed her the beauty of it (all of this while singing with a softer-than-usual voice just for her!) Gave her a flower and acted pretty at the end before kissing her while flying... Makes sense she accepted all of this and fell in love with him in just a few minutes

His world looks toxic & creepy but there’s a strange beauty to it that she admires. His world looks toxic, but he ain’t. Her kingdom doesn’t look toxic, but her ex fiancé was.
