On August 15th, 2022 I visited the Colonie Village Hall located in Colonie, NY and peacefully exercised our First Amendment right to record in public and publicly accessible areas. If you would like to give compliments or would like to redress your grievances to our government about the conduct in my video, the information is below.

The mayor does not represent Colonie very well. A grown man who is the mayor will not give his name and plays childish games. A missed opportunity to showcase his village, instead he leaves a black eye on the town.

A backpack and a camera are both extremely common and completely legal items to own. There are children that literally walk to school daily with both of these items. The mainstream news is what instills this fear in people. Do they honestly see the complete idiocy in their statements about knowing what everyone is doing, not knowing everyone, etc? We don't go through this scrutiny when going into PRIVATE property so how do they expect it in PUBLIC??? This country is going in the completely opposite direction from what the founding fathers intended.

What them seem to forget is they were elected to the position they hold, and serve at the pleasure of the people. And yet the see a gentleman with a camera and they feel threatened. @@ghostyfirebuffthey have a window uncovered so if you are standing in public and you can see in the window it's legal to look it's legal to record. It's their responsibility to not have things visible that they don't want visible so in this case if they didn't want him to see in the window or record there they should have a shade over the window. It was lawful because if he is standing in the public area then anything visible from there is considered public because you can have an uncovered window that is visible to someone standing in public area then there can't be any expectation of privacy there.

They swore the oath but don't even remember doing so, and don't even know what it means (the importance of upholding, protecting, and defending our Constitutional Rights). If they don't even know their rights/ our rights, don't even know what the oath means, only recite it once because they have to, forget it, etc. --then how can we expect that they will honor that Oath? Which makes what you stated (making sure they know these things before we elect them) of paramount importance.

I’ve seen worse mayors but luckily this mayor got schooled before he took that big step up to totally tyrant. The cop didn’t seem to like that mayor or he would be pressing the issue. Maybe the mayor would do some homework about the 1st amendment and how to treat the public. Train his staff too.

His actions and intention still hold tyranny, it's bad because if he would do that what else would he do and the next person he affects may not have a camera to protect him and a tyrant cop could show up to fallow through with what the mayor wants. I pray he does better but it's concerning. He knew he was in no danger but he didn't care to try and have someone arrested or escorted from being a law abiding citizen. They shouldn't worry about a camera, if they are doing what they are supposed to they should be proud to show their dedication to their oaths to the laws and to all citizens. I'm so greatful for the constitution because the 1st amendment especially has saved so many people.

Should have let that asst clerk know that they can't charge you for the "time"(as she stated) - that's what taxes are for. I believe New York statute actually states that fees can only be for materials only (saw this in another audit.)

Shout out to Les (the Superintended of Public Works). Generally speaking, he was very polite, professional, knowledgeable, and seemingly a very decent guy (and worthy to be employed by the taxpayers in a management position). And the Police were also professional and respectful. The Mayor on the other hand, was a disgrace and should probably be recalled. The Treasurer is stunning (IMO). I would say it's less about racism and more about some random dude walking around filming "with a backpack" (in this day and [brainwashed] age). This is likely the first time it's ever happened in the history of that town (Village).

It’s worrying that you have to be known to go into a public building - are they planning on returning some taxes because they were rude to a member of the public - maybe if that happened they would change the way they respond. Maybe they should assume the best when they meet someone new instead of assuming that people are here to hurt you. Remember the only qualification for being in politics is that you are popular - remember what happened to the popular kids in High School?
