The speech he gives Will, will be much more emotionally satisfying. When he talks to El, when she's in the upside down, was like a child explaining love. When he saves Will from the dark side it will be like a man saving someone he is in love with.

Most of the people I know, REALLY seem to dislike Wolfhard's performance in the 4th season. Be it people in my circle who watch the show, or other fans on different social medias, their main criticism is that he is WAY too detached in the season and it damages his dynamic with El. Initially, that was my stance as well. Compared to the other kids(especially the massive growth and maturity seen in Caleb McLaughlin's brilliant performance), he seemed to have gotten worse. However, I am now wondering if these overlooked understated moments with Will are leading us to somewhere. Seeing this videos, I am genuinely asking myself what if Mike is supposed to be queer as well..... IF this is the case when we find out in season 5, then Finn Wolfhard deserves a lot of credit for making it believable, cause the amount of backlash that she got on social media for his acting, it would actually make up for that.
