Top video! Really well explained and we could see everything as well! And, as well as tying everything forwards, backwards and down, another very important consideration is that it has clamped down on the UNSPRUNG part of the car, which leaves the body free to move about on the suspension without stretching and ripping the strap to shreds as you drive along. I came down with a mate in a road train from Karratha with a 12x8 trailer tied onto one of the trailers, and we snapped two straps not even halfway to Newman by not tying it on this way! The third try was with chains, and the trailer didn’t move another millimetre the whole rest of the way ha ha! G’day from WA!

trailered a car 1200km with this technique last weekend on a couple hours notice with some 2400kg straps from supercheap auto, easy as! thanks mate!

This does help out tremendously. I'm heading out to trailer a Chevy Suburban and I have no idea what kind of tie points it has. You've given me some options so I feel a bit more comfortable with getting it tied down.

Cheers. I usually go through the wheels front and back, while having winch also hooked on. Bought an expensive set of wheels so don’t want to risk damaging them by having straps running through them so this method seems a lot better.

Hi Byron great work on showing us how to tie down a car onto a trailer just through it would be great if you would mention the SWL of the tie down staps and especially the equalising slings as these are often purchased separately. Just a thought Cheers great demo on tying the car down.

Thanks for that, I'd been going from side to side through the gaps in the mag wheels and cutting my straps to bits on the sharp edges. Had seen the tie down points on the trailer in the middle of the fr/rear wheels & couldn't for the life of me work out why they'd been put there. Seems so simple once you know aye, cheers. (ps; wearing your yellow hi-viz I'm a little suprised the video didn't start with "assess your work area and fill out your take 5")

Champion. Been strapping things to trailers for years, but not of the 4 wheeled variety. Nice simple solution to securing the wheel without buying specialty gear that'll get used once.

What if you have the ratchet closed the slot so you can feed strap from bottom up pull on loose end ratchet. all the best to you and your loved ones

Do you only do it to the back tires?

Should I strap 1 wheel, 2 or all 4?

North American methods differ as gravity assists our tie downs. It must be more complicated for you being upside down.
