this is just game theory. should have gone in to discussing oster's (1994) sequential analysis technique of game theory, as its a much more realistic approach, although as you said its still rational thinking and doesn't allow for the true complexity of business networks.

You might not be aware, but this example is sexist. There are other examples that would work just fine. Unfortunately you chose a "beautiful young lady" as your example, which is offensive.Why? It's objectifying women. It takes a person's appearance as its focus and, worse, assumes that buying a woman alcohol will lead to a date, as if she is an object to be manipulated or won rather than making her own choices. I was hoping to learn from you example, but was distracted by your choice of an old-fashioned, sexists example. You can do better. Take more time to consider the examples you use for teaching. Your examples could be much more inspiring, progressive, and supportive of equality in the world.
