We use and hear the words "strategy" and "strategic" in our business lives every day. The words are often overused and misused. What does strategy really mean? In this session, Emory University’s John Kim will provide a "back to basics" cheat-sheet approach to the most important concepts on business unit and corporate strategy. Strategy is more important than ever, but let's all agree on what it means.

@@SuperKillaki fair enough - a company's energy use strategy certainly should be framed within the context of its corporate strategy, not be at odds with that level of strategy. But I'm looking for something that explains functional strategy as it lies in the continuum - corporate, business, functional. Where to compete, how to win, ______________.

A functional strategy is the approach a business functional takes to achieve corporate and business unit objectives and strategies by maximizing resource productivity. It deals with a relatively restricted plan that provides the objectives for a specific business function.
