I think this is the one I needed. I started practicing my drawing using a cheap vellum available locally, since then this is the kind of paper I want for it does not sip too much ink. It makes my 0.05 fine line pen appear more smaller when I draw dots without pressure. I think it is because the smoothness of the paper. But I also want quality. Gonna try this one out.

I’m 4 years late, but I have 120 polychromos and 72 prisma color, and both vellum and smooth, I can assure u for color pencils smooth is NOT the way to go, vellum is awesome

I am new to art and have been drawing on Strathmore sketch paper for the last year and I got into pen and ink and tried using sketch paper which didn't work well. I had Bristol paper in storage that I never used at tried it for pen and ink and was amazed. And like you said I was amazed to on how graphite erased off of it. And how well ink wrote on it.Sometime I worry about needing up on Bristol because it's such a better quality paper.

I'm looking forward to seeing the finished macaw. I've been won over by the Strathmore papers as well. The 500 series bristol smooth is my current favorite. The pencil goes down so smoothly and evenly on it.

Going to attempt a portrait in graphite of my beloved shepherd we laid to rest back in March. Have done very little in art but actually did a reasonable facsimile of a few people portraits. Where would you suggest I start Amy?

I will have to pay more attention to your current videos and see if your still using the same papers! I wonder if you have new paper videos on the way? Have you tried the NEW Fabriano papers?

Amie try the Strathmore 500 series, it’s heavier and the pro series.

Great review indeed!!!Actually this bristol vellum had two sides( smooth and toothier side) which side do you use for color pencils?i know vellum is good for color pencils but still many cp srtist prefer bristol smooth instead of Bristol vellum,,can you please explain why? Thanks in advance

+Sathish Kumar This one had both Vellum sides. There was a Bristol Board 300 Series Smooth, but that was an entirely different pad. I prefer the vellum as it has more tooth and holds pencil a lot better than the smooth board

@@gouthamkrishna3958 both vellum and smooth are good for realistic drawings, use both 300 and 500 smooth and vellum. But for some reason most artists I've spoken to prefer the smooth over the vellum for realistic portraits, which is opposite of what Bristol recommends. But good paper, I haven't tried other papers, have always used strathmore bristol.
