Tawang Sector: In our documentary series, 'Along The China Front: Commanding The Tawang Heights', Part IV, we travel from Tawang to the Kyapho model border post along the Tibet border and the Pankang Teng Tso or PTSO Lake area to get a glimpse of the Indian Army's artillery firepower at these high altitudes. The StratNews Global team of Amitabh P. Revi and Rohit Pandita document the criticality in dominating heights and the game changing role of artillery at these elevations.
As Lt Gen Sanjay Kulkarni (Retd), the Former DG, Infantry and Ex-Brigade Commander, Tawang Sector, makes clear, "holding posts at heights (is an) absolute necessity and the Chinese get the correct message that they don't mess around with the Indians." Brig S.K. Chatterji (Retd), the former Battery Commander of India's first ever Bofors Unit, which was deployed in the Tawang Sector after the Sumdurong Chu incursion, who is currently Editor of BharatShakti says, "the guy on the top has a tremendous advantage, adding "without artillery fire being really intense, you cannot possibly put your bet on trying to win the battle. It's the decisive factor."

A wonderfully made documentary on the forward posts in the North East. Its very nice to see the equipment of the individual soldier. The soldiers now look properly kitted up to undertake their duties more effectively. We can't thank enough for what our soldiers endure to keep us safe. Jai Hind.

Superb ground reporting. Exactly how the field journalism should be. Happy and equally proud on Modi led BJP govt for the amount of infrastructure development and military modernisation they have done. IAF got Rafale, Apache, Tejas 1A and upcoming Tejas Mak2, upgrading Mirage 2000, Mig29 UPG and Su30 MKi. Navy got Vikramaditya, Vikrant and Virat Rafale M. Roads, tunnels, hydroelectric power projects in Himalaya is no mean feat. Outstanding job, and continuity should be ensured.

@@amitabhrevi Brutal truth, I got bored. I am shorter on time as well, so I need to prioritise - what I really want to watch, find engaging or can learn from - there are only 24 hours in a day & let me be sexist in saying that a woman has to do more work than a man & I don't have any maids to do all the chores! I remain essentially an atypical viewer of this channel, demographically speaking. I am not someone who needs to keep herself updated on geopolitical or India issues for professional reasons, so there's no skin in the game for me; it's just a hobby. However, I do try to keep up with your reports or interviews, but I have pretty much switched off from the rest for over a year now. I think I've said this before - You are the only saving grace of this channel! And you do only two shows /week. Besides some of the topics /guests are boring & repetitive. The guests might be high level veterans in their fields, but they often don't say anything much & it becomes an amateurish & often cringe worthy mutual admiration society of old men. Some of the foreign experts (esplly the goras & goris) that you bring are also into saying nice things about India, which many desis lap up with inordinate & unquestioning haste, without thinking behind their motives of abruptly jumping on to the India bandwagon, in order to enhance their nondescript careers. I find that the quality of questioning has deteriorated - too much politeness, not enough incisiveness. I can count on just one hand, how many foreign experts I really want to hear from based on my previous viewership of them. I say this as one of your early & loyal subscribers - you need young blood & naturally articulate & tech savvy communicators, if you want to grow the channel to its full potential. I do want your channel to succeed, but I doubt that it will, unless you "stragetise" (pun intended) better!

Superb video. First impression - isn’t the CP / forward base really exposed to fire from the other side. Second, 8:14 shocked to see that even at that this critical front line post, sniper long guns have no scopes!!! They need to seriously update supplies to modern standards. No need to Invent new - just follow template of any developed nation. Also the pace of road upgrading needs to be seriously accelerated using industrial strength tools instead of using manual labor. Also India needs to build well equipped planned modern villages built on a grid and good roads rather than the hodge podge of primitive huts for the villagers. It’s not a bad idea to learn from the Chinese in how they handle this. Jai Hind and Best from Seattle USA

It is very important for Indians to understand what the Indian Armed forces are defending. It is not just an A4 paper map on a flat piece of paper that is colored and filled in with crayons. Every inch of the Himalayan border is complicated just for survival purposes, let alone defending. From deserts, tropical rainforests, high seas , far away Islands and mountains...and yes- freezing glacers--- it is impossible for any one to understand the depth and complexity of the challenge of defending India.
