Lines up pretty well taking into account that kerbin is 1/10 the size then 40,075 x 1.9 (19 rounds on kerbin) = 76,142.5 which is slightly over what he achived, likely caused by altitude variations and differences in equator path compared to the starting flight path

Yea... I wanted this to be a quicker video, but it turned into a huge endevour to get working. It took several days to optimize my design to the point I was happy with it, and then a literal day to fly the mission. It turned out this is really complicated thing to optimize for. As I mentioned in the video, its not a good idea to load up as much fuel as possible since then you'll end up flying slower. I did a lot of tests to find out what the best fuel loading would be and eventually settled on what I had in the video. In the end, I'm very happy that the supersonic option ended up better. With a subsonic design, I was only getting an estimated 10-15 circumnavigations and that would've taken much longer due to flying slower.

The cinematography is amazing, as always. The low flying shots, the appropriately metal jet engine shrine to the greatest engine of them all, shots with highly specific framing to make room for elements in post… The amount of thought and care that goes into filming these is incredible, and it really shows. I’ve watched your getting to orbit under jet power and Duna under electric power videos at least a dozen times, and they never fail to elicit a sense of awe. But Eve ∞ 2… that one is a masterwork. The music, the cinematography, the sheer scale and engineering of it… it gives me chills every time, even after easily twenty times watching it. Edit: I just rewatched it and how could I forget the *editing!* The smash cuts, the transitions, making use of music beats to accentuate events, make hard cuts feel natural, and so much more! There are so many little details that don’t just *happen.* It takes deliberate thought, time, care, and a loving attention to detail, and you demonstrate all of those time and time again.

It is incredible seeing how far you were able to compromise the other aspects of the plane in pursuit of range while still getting it to work. The fact that it needs to go super sonic to take off and takes multiple laps of Kerbin on a special low lying path to reach it’s cruising altitude is so cool to me.

What happened to your audio from 4:15 to 6:41? (it also happens a bit after flameout again) other than that very cool video, might try this out sometime

There is most likely copyrighted music and KZfaq I believe has a tool that removes the music while attempting to preserve all other audio

The whole lapping plane thing was cool and must have taken a lot of time, but the number of probes he put around Kerban must have taken WAY longer. Give this man a reward or something.

@@chwedcheesebgr It'll be because KZfaq or himself has isolated his voice probably because of copyrighted music.

I did a transfer from the KSC to the south pole in 10 minutes with only jet power (all of it below 25km), is it good? (Also, the plane has enough delta-v to circle the earth (probably))
@eekee6034
@eekee6034 2 жыл бұрын
Uh... I'm not an expert but have had a bit of fun with planes. I think the stock Ravenspear Mk3 could probably do it in 15 minutes if you're good at landing, and it's not really a great plane. I threw together a plane in 15 minutes which is its equal but uses much less fuel. I'm almost sure the stock Dove could do it in 10 minutes if you unloaded the oxidizer. The Dove is pretty awesome in some ways; hard to beat for high lift, high speed, & high acceleration, but it's short-range. So... your plane is pretty good; up there with the best of stock.
