Every bassist's dream...or nightmare!
Richard Strauss's Ein Heldenleben is full of challenging excerpts for the double bass, many of which are often called in auditions.
In this double bass lesson, principal bassist of Teatro Massimo, Christian Ciaccio, takes us through this beast of a piece, giving us technique tips and tricks on how to nail the hardest passages and impress audiences or panels.

@@Nodybass Not bad playing but it should be at an even level. I am bad at this but you should have some formula on this. Like Mahler 5, triolle in triolle. There might be a difference.

1:10 Beautifully played, with rythmic and clear triplets and perfect bow control. But why are you rushing the four sixteenth notes at the end of the phrase? The G that follows arrives very early, long before the first beat!

Maestro, how would you pronounce the "fff" dynamic marking in Italian? I was told by a professor that it is pronounced "forte-fortissimo," but I am struggling to believe this is the correct reading of it.
