As a POC, let people enjoy their music. It's not disrespectful to the original song cause Mitski even said that it could have multiple meanings beyond the original one. It's said that the listeners view is correct and thus is both a struggle song and a sung meant to be enjoyed. I'm sick of going to these songs, both of which I enjoy, and see people jumping on some hate bandwagon to harass people and make POC seem like the bad guys wanting this mess. Leave people alone if no one is being actually hurt cause harassing folk don't make POC or Mitski look any better.

I really do understand why it could be upsetting, but she really just made a parody of a song. Songs are meant to be interpreted and relatable to lots of people, and while this one definitely resonates more with poc because that’s what it’s about, that subject matter is kind of an undertone and can be just about being in love with someone who doesn’t love you back in some people’s minds. She never intended for strawberry cow to get super popular, it was just a little thing she threw together for the strawberry cow pillow pet and webkinz. All I’m saying is, I get why it might upset some poc and I never want to speak over them, but I don’t think it deserves hate because it was just a cute little thing that did not have racist intention at all

Looking at the comment section, I feel bad for the creator of the song. All they did was create a parody of a song. They simply used the tune and rhythm of the original song to make a new one. The parody itself isn't offensive or harmful. Yes, the original song was about the struggle of poc women. And it's really amazing that people are speaking out about it. It's also great to let people know what the original song was about so that they can go listen to it. But you should be polite about it. Just a simple "Hey, just so you guys know, this song was based off of "Strawberry Blonde", a song about the struggles of women of color. You should go check it out." would've sufficed.

It has to due with the original being about POC struggles. Which is completely understandable but the parody doesn't have any relation to the original. I personally don't understand the backlash (But I don't speak for POC so if they find this parody offensive it's completely okay) Edit: I'd just say try and keep in mind the meaning of the original when listening to this parody,but other then that yeah I'd say the parody is fine.

It’s hard to think about how deeply conflicting it is. I feel like a lot of people think it’s cringey and horrible like baby talk or something. Yet when you listen it is so wholesome like you said and also makes me feel the closest I could to being in some fictionalized utopia. Kind of like adventure time, they have music like this in that show and hearing outside of the show almost makes me feel like I live there if that makes any sense
