The leader Bang Chan produces most of their beats is a huge music fan of the greats. He even did a Nirvana cover live at one of their concerts. He gushes very often about both the pioneers of pop & hip-hop music. Not sure if you've heard SKZ song S-Class yet but when Chan remixed S-Class for their special performance live on the VMA'S last year @ the hip-hop part of the song he paid hommage to Black Sheep with the base line from The Choice Is Yours, only sped up a bit. I thought it was fitting since the VMA'S were celebrating 50yrs of hip-hop, i believe. 😊 When you deep dive on these guys you really understand their love of all music genres & their respect to all musical artists who've come before them. ❤😊

Michael Jackson, Prince, and Stevie Wonder are all huge influences due to the love JYP( their companys founder) has for those artists in particular. I think he makes sure to “educate” his trainees on the musical legends of yesterday. I think it’s partially a “respect the elders” kind of thing as well as a bit of a history lesson in the origin of certain genres and sounds. To me, it’s also a way of encouraging trainees to expand their musical tastes. JYP is for sure, a weird dude and he put Stray skids through some early trauma (the survival show) but the way he chooses to train and educate his idols, is pretty cool!

if you want even more diversity in sound you should check out their subunit and solo stuff. I highly recommend Heyday, 3ratcha and Maze of Memories by 3ratcha (Their producing subunit). I also recommend Muddy Water by HAN, Felix, Hyunjin, and Changbin. Oh and Streetlight by Changbin. Not all of these have music videos but Lyric videos are great too!
