I feel like Lee Know is an understated backbone in SKZ: he doesn’t get the same amount of attention for his dance skills even though he’s always been the one helping others improve and been highly skilled himself, being a vocalist who is coming into his own, being quiet big brother who cares for the members in subtle ways. He doesn’t seem to be an attention-seeker but worth paying attention to.

I love how you emphasized Lee Know's vocal technique, for being the member with the least time as a trainee and having started with 0 experience, I love to see what an incredible singer he is. He has good technique both with chest voice and head voice, also he has good breath control because he has been a dancer since before he was a trainee so he knows how to control the force with which he moves when singing and dancing. Lee Know has been one of the most underrated members regarding his vocals because he didn't used to have many lines either but it's great to see how many people are really surprised that they didn't pay attention to his voice since he is such a good singer.

Stray kids being the very first kpop group to be in One Take and being able to be invited again is so amazing. Their live vocals is so good and and to do at it all perfectly in just 1 take is so amazing.

Fun fact: skz were the first korean artist to sing on the first take channel! They were the first ones to sing a song in korean (Mixtape: OH) as well! Love those performances a lot, so ty for checking them out

Lee Know was once told during the survival show that his voice stood out because it was the weakest, he's being dishing out mic drop after mic drop on JYP ever since XD He made sure "the boss" ate his words. Thanks for actually appreciating his talent and his hard work, he's had the biggest evolution in the group (which is already hard because they are all so talented) but he's still terribly underrated

Lee Know's vocals have shined more and more every year since debut. I've stanned them since 2018 and it was in Levanter era that I really realised how incredible his falsetto is. He's an incredible vocalist and now my bias ❤️

Whenver someone talks about Leenow vocals it makes me feel prouder and happiest. He worked so hard to be here

It's been so satisfying hearing Minho's growth as a vocalist over the years. He started with hardly any vocal training, and was even encouraged to rap because his vocals weren't yet well-supported. In the beginning he didn't get many lines and the ones he did get weren't particularly challenging in terms of letting him grow as a vocalist (he also had rap parts in their first eras). Now, looking at his confidence that has bloomed exponentially in the last 2 years, it's amazing to see him develop and use his voice so freely and powerfully in their tracks.

Lee Know has such incredible vocal ability, able to be low and then hit amazing falsettos with ease. He's an underrated Ace no lie.

I would just like to say that I have NEVER slept on Lee Know's vocals. Man has a beautiful voice and I need him to have more lines and more scene time in skz songs especially in their title tracks because he is an ace. Thank you for the reaction and Lee Know appreciation.

I recommend some songs that they sang individually so you can fully listen to their vocals. I also included more slower songs. Lee know is literally one of my favourite vocalists... His vocals are in insane. Ohhh and Han.

One thing I really love about SKZ vocals is you can hear the progression over the years. Lee Know had only been a trainee for like 6-8 weeks when their survival show happened. He'd been a dancer so I think he was still pretty new to singing, and he was switched to rap during the survival show because JYP felt his vocals weren't stable enough. Since then it feels like Lee Know has worked really hard on all of his skills. You can actually hear it in their SKZ talker bts footage when they're warming up Han and Lee Know tend to sing random songs a lot and Lee Know's started to have that same classical vibrato sound Han has when playing around. His voice has gotten so much bigger and stronger I feel like he really came into his own during Maxident especially. Seungmin and I.N are interesting. They're both the lead vocal line but the original 9th member was SKZ main vocalist so Seungmin especially suddenly took on a lot more vocal responsibility a year after debut when the 9th member left (as did Han for the higher ranges). Seungmin actually went outside the company and found his own vocal coach because he wanted to get stronger, and now I.N goes to the same coach. They sit in on each others' lessons to learn from one another. Both have spoken about kind of having to relearn their techniques and I feel like their voices have both grown over the past year especially. Seungmin also seems to get a bit nervous on live shows sometimes, but when he relaxes and gets into it his tone really shines. His performance of Love Poem on Kingdom is one of my all time favourites. Seungmin has a voice that can just make me sit down and listen in silence when I hear it. But honestly, Lee Know has been up there as my favourite voice since I heard Levanter and I'm so glad he's getting more recognition. He has such a nice tone that I feel mixes well with the rest of the group to give that deeper texture to their whole sound. Taste was a great song for that too.

I love that you can also appreciate Lee Know’s vocals it’s so underplayed. But he has the quality to his voice that it’s just phenomenal He sometimes sings with so much emotion you feel it. Please react to waiting for us . I promise it won’t disappoint

I love that you keep gushing about Lee Know's vocal because when I do, people say I'm biased. Well.. I am, but HE IS A GOOD VOCALIST!! I love his voice so much. I recognised his voice even before I managed to remember all SKZ's members name (including his) and that's saying something. The fact that back then he was told that he wasn't a strong enough vocal and should just stick to rapping.. He trained well. :") Also, I feel like as their producedr, Chan recognised Lee Know's good technique in producing head voice because he's one of the members who's consistently given that type of parts in their songs.

Im so happy Lee Know is getting so kuch appreciation and more and more people making videos talking about him, about his control. I've been ult'ing him and it's very evident that his expertise is his CONTROL on everything. He keeps improving too. I think of him as main vocalist if he's in a group with concepts/genres like New Jeans (male ver, sorry i cant think of male groups the same concept/genre with New Jeans).

It is so interesting to watch reactions by different vocal specialists. I saw one singing teacher who remarked specifically that he thought IN's voice was by far the best, he didn't like Lee Know's voice at all, saying it was too airy. (I resonated more with your analysis on that issue). By the way, have you listened to Stray Kids/Danceracha's Taste? Lee Know's vocals on that are amazing, Hyunjin and Felix are wonderful as well but Lee Know just takes the show on that.

For slump I do agree that some harmonies would sound really nice but I think that the lone voice kind of fits with the meaning behind the song of feeling alone and left behind. I really appreciate your expertise on all of this and I found a lot of your comments really insightful!

I think you would enjoy reacting to the Lee Mujin Service episodes with Seungmin, and with Han. Lee Mujin is a singer who has his own show where he invites kpop vocalists to sing and talk about music with him. It is interesting to see how different Seungmin's episode was from Han's--the same format, but such a different feel. Their vocal styles and personalities are so different. I really liked Seungmin's duet with Lee Mujin a lot. Because it is a show focused on vocals, the camera is very much also focused on the singers faces. We also got to watch Han rapping freestyle to a jazz improv style piano accompaniment, which was fun--he commented in the freestyle on how rapping to the live piano the beat kept changing.

Oh about seungmin. That wasn’t his tongue, he just brought his lips out to close his mouth. Transitioning from singing without braces to singing with is so hard😭😭

Just want to credit you for being one of the best vocal analysts on KZfaq! I'm a bit of a vocal critic myself, and I've learned so much from you just from this video. You point out many things I hadn't considered before that gave me an even deeper appreciation for vocals. I just discovered Stray Kids recently and their vocals and song arrangements have floored me. I don't ever call myself a "fan" because it stems from the word "fanatic" and it's unhealthy to obsess... but Stray Kids are getting me dangerously close!

I would also like to suggest their Secret Secret performance. It has a bit of a backing track but their voices can still be heard better. There are moments when two members sing together, like Lee Know and Felix, so there's some sort of vocal layering (if that's what you call it) :) Their Neverending Story performance is also a must watch, imo

They released a new album today with 8 solo songs (one for each) you should definitely check out Leeknows it’s together with Felix song my favourite song. It’s so beautiful and his voice is phenomenal

You should have him watch their live stage cover of "Call Me Baby" by EXO at their Love Stay Fan Meeting. Seriously, they can take on songs by vocalists heavy groups, LIVE, and kill it. People really don't give their singing abilities any credit because they are a Hip-Hop heavy, Rap dominant group.

I really love your approach to this! I've been looking for something like this for a while with like commentary on each of their singing, but everything I come across has little to no technical thought put into it at all, just talking about the quality of their voices. As someone who studies voice though I really appreciated hearing another person's thoughts on this technical stuff that I've been thinking for a while to have it confirmed lol. I've literally been noticing IN's forward jaw movement thing for a while now and its cool to see another person be just as nerdy and point it out!! --also I know a lot of people who are working on that same thing because they developed the habit from singing in masks and pushing fabric away. Also, I feel like the thing mentioned at one point about Seungmin really reaching for notes, (this is in Oh) I was thinking it could maybe be something to do with struggling to coordinate a good onset in higher range (and I noticed Chan do it earlier too). Like he was trying to keep it gentle in the higher register, but that resulted maybe in some compensation with trying to use those surrounding muscles to control the cords or airflow or something like that? anyways this is an essay at this point but I just had the need to nerd out and be excited to finally see someone talking about in a more neutral sense the actual technique that goes in there, not just their vocal qualities. and last sidenote, I think this is all especially really cool because I know these guys are still taking voice lessons at least occasionally and it seems they're really committed to personal growth, so maybe we'll notice technical things like this disappearing in the future for them which would be really cool!
